    I thought about mounting mine under the cubby hole, but it would block the view of my "puppy cam". 2016-09-04 19.53.34.jpg

    Still waiting for the formula used to engineer the snakeoil cap hat.

    without cap hat:
    x=0 @ 27.185
    with cap hat
    x=0 @ 19.205

    sure looked different to me

    No formula needed.
    I used 2 Wilson 31 inch whips for the cap hat.
    Then I tuned the coil.
    Simple.

    Snake oil.

    You are guessing that a 64thish wave hat is going to do anything?

    I'm going to assume that your above post is some kind of typo, because we don't talk at 19mhz.

    without cap hat:
    x=0 @ 27.185
    with cap hat
    x=0 @ 19.205

    Seems that no hat is the way to go..... but I'm guessing you meaNT THE OPPOSITE, sry for cps lock, ........ the cap hat and coil is resonant at our fq. It simply a matter of the amount of tuned metal you have in the air.

    A cap hat is to lower the angle of radiation, which in our application, is what we need, but yours is too small to make any real changes. it needs to be at least 1/4 wavelength to matter at all, and even at 1/4 it's pretty insignificant, yours is maybe 1/64th wave.

    This is all in the many years of ARRL antenna handbooks, basic antenna theory really.

    I admire the innovation Chop, but to try to sell it as useful or relevant is sort of dishonest.

    Reducing coil losses by 50% and increasing radiation resistance is hardly snake oil.

    "Universally, they're too small to be truly effective."

    An excerpt from your link. The rest of the article clearly explains that the above tenant is true, however if it feels good, do it.

    I won't even start on the 20meters vs the 11meters we operate at disparities.

    I'm standing my ground, as are you, gotta love it. I'm not against you dude, I'm the idiot that tuned a dodge van with a gamma match and worked dx. I'm just saying that for the average guy with a cb radio in the average truck, not one bit of this crap is going to make any discernible difference to them.

    Fella called Mark laughed out loud at the 239 vs type-N deal. I'm laughing out loud at this cap hat deal.

    Well im told by mark one thing and ridgeline says its the best yet..Far from perfect cause there atill are issue to be fixed but im with you on this 40" shaft..
    Everything i seem to find so far on counterpoise is either ham ant related or make a dipole..I feel it in my gut that there is an easy fix..Its stareing at me but i just dont see it..YET!!
