What is it with flatbed companies and staying off the dang grass? TMC's hotel at their headquarters is the same way. Is it truly about following directions, or is there another point they're trying to drive home?

I guess they figure if you are too lazy to use the sidewalk and need to take a short cut to get from point A to point B, then you are too lazy to do the job right and prone to take short cuts which will get you or someone else hurt or killed.

I'm sure that's probably what it is. It just comes off as anal, I guess. But hey, their property, their rules, and if you can't follow rules you really have no business being in this business.

The fact that they denied some guy for cutting across the lawn is ridiculous! If that's the standard by which they judge someones work ethic then i'm surprised they have anyone on their campus. Sounds like more of a case of someone with a room temperature IQ having to much power. So do they deny people who don't recap their pen after filling out paperwork because that shows they don't complete a job. Do they deny people who misspell and use incorrect punctuation because after all that shows a blatant disregard for the law, you know there are rules for grammar. By this guy standards that is (the guy who sent the trainee packing) Mavericks entire operation should be shut down after all you're keeping people out for weeks at a time with maybe one or two days off(home time) not being there for wife or children when your kids are crying because your not there and you're ultimately a stranger to them it's clearly child abuse and shows your a deadbeat dad why would you want a lowlife like that stinking up your company. Cutting across the lawn and your work ethic are two different animals, you risk no lives when you cut across the lawn that doesn't mean he wouldn't be a safe driver that does his job properly.

I am knew to this sight and have just applied to Maverick. I have spoken to Mike on several occassions and Deannain HR. Waiting on background to come back. In response to the grass issue, if he is the owner, it is his company- his rules. Anyone that cannot abide by those rules can go work for another company or live the American dream of entrprenuer and start thier own company.

It sounds like your primary concern is home time.

Regardless of where he works, he's never going to make any money if he's always going home.

PS: If he can't complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 training without running home, he might want to re-evaluate his career choice.
