I see by the profiles that most defending Swift have just a couple years' worth of experience. Swift has been the brunt of jokes for a loooong time. This is not a new development and they have this reputation for a reason.

I guess it is a matter of opinion regarding reputation. Yes, there are a lot of people who have negative feelings making for a negative reputation on their part. But the majority of the negative I hear comes from people with no first hand knowledge. It's just a carrying on what they have heard others say. On the other hand, I have heard a lot of good comments about them too. And most of those good comments have come from people who have worked or are still working for them. I would think those with first hand knowledge have a better ability to judge then those who do not. Just like it would be wrong for me to talk about how terrible it is to drive in the norhteast since Harrisburg, PA is the closest I have gotten to there. I have heard a lot of people talk about how bad it is and I assume it must be since many companies pay a premium to get drivers to go there. But I cannot come here and talk about how bad it is since I haven't been there. Now LA, that's another story. What would you like to know about driving in LA traffic?

They, and most other big companies have a "bad reputation" because drivers like to attack the big companies. Many who spread this "bad reputation" have no first hand knowledge. They have heard a driver at the counter talk about a company and spread it around. And often times the compay involved could have been another company but people just say it was Swift, or JB, or Werner, etc.

And time as a truck driver has nothing to do with it. I have been around the trucking industry for a lot more years then I list as having been a truck driver.

They were the butt of the joke back when I drove for them in 1999, right along with JB, Werner, & Schneider. I even made up one of my own jokes on Swift due to the first trainer/mentor I had!

I'd tell someone who I drove for, and I usually got 'I'm sorry'!

My husband went to orientation for Swift, and we have had to fight with them every year at tax season since then! LOL! They keep sending us a 1040 for $800 that we never have recieved. Ya know, if they'd just send us the $800 maybe this would all be done....

Oh, and he didn't go to work for them because they sent him home after orientation saying he would have a trainer inside a week... then didn't get back to us until 11 weeks later.

Yep, that must be it, then. It must not have anything to do with a million and a half's worth of miles sharing the road with them to see how bad many of their steering wheel holders are and talking to some f the other drivers and listening to how bad the company treats them. Thanks for setting me straight.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before I ever considered getting a CDL I knew that Swift, JB and the other megas sucked. I am the first CDL holder in my immediate family. My brother in law has a dormant CDL, and my brother got his after I did but uses it mainly for his ranch's purposes.

    Their reputation has preceded them.

Also Swift had the highest turn over in the industry at 126% turn over at one point, I read in one of the truck rags found at truck stops. With the economy where its at, I've heard that has slowed considerable.

PawPaw I wonder if your company sucks or doesn't suck if you have 126% turn over annually????????????????????????????????????????????

Could the driver not see the big ole exit sign that they passed in the cab or how ever they got there?

Or beeing droped off at a TA in Limon as far as I know Ta's are not a bus stop so that driver had to get there some how.

Maybe another dumb swift driver dropped the other dumb driver off and told them to find a ride to get the rest of the way.
