I agree... to a point. If it were the first time I can see being sympathetic to his plight. However, when you look at his posts this is the third carrier just this year and it's the same story over and over... it is all "their" fault.

yeagh that is true as well--i kinda forgot that part
that i have a hard time with--i really dont understand job hoppers--my last one was 98 till 09 when they closed up--and hopefully my next one will work for 20 years so i can retire
the only reason the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence is cause all the bs is good fertilizer

Darn, and just when I was going to tell you that I have a driving job for you that is more your speed... not scary like those trucks that carry a full load.

Okay, genius. What would you say a safe, legal weight should be on a vehicle designed to haul -and stop- 80K plus? Can't wait to here this from an "Old School" driver such as yourself.

unfortuantely as a driver we dont get the option of saying how much weight we want to pull--as long as it is legal--of course in the summer the lighter the better for me---but in the winter i prefer to have the trailer maxed out
its just part of the job

His answer might by roughly 3,000 in the box....just saying. He's got to be able to stop on a dime downhill when the guy he's tailgating claims he saw a deer.

And, why would one do a "panic test"? If you check your brakes, you wouldn't have to.

That's just it. I have only ever "panic" braked (broken? Otter!!) once. In a 4-wheeler. It didn't work out so well. That little BMW withstood the impact and saved my arse, but it was totaled in the process.

In a truck, empty or at gross, I have done many controlled firm brakes and one ....that's ONE controlled hard brake. I have never (knock on wood) been in the situation to require "stab" braking. You will notice that not one time did I say "panic" brake with regard to a truck. That's because if you find yourself so unprepared for road conditions and traffic that you will "panic" when you encounter it, you should STAY HOME!!!

Absolutely right!!! Right now, I have 41,000 in the box. I just go slower, more following distance. If someone gets in front of me, I just back off a bit more. No need to "panic brake."

I had to stab brake once. A car cut me off coming to a construction zone in Alabama. Car cut in front of me and cut off the view of the truck ahead of me, who had just started smoking his tires. Thank goodness the shoulder was open, otherwise, people on this forum will be seeing my sorry arse in the Accident section.
