Moved to FL Gulf Side 5+ years ago from MN, 9 months are perfect, 3 not so much but it seems no matter if I am in Florida or Colorado the months of June, July, August suck everywhere, so trade 3 months of typical USA weather for 9 of nice is worth it
We moved here not planning on working in the State, local work is little pay, not that you cannot find a decent job but you need experience
Big employers are in the Medical fields, Real estate..... sorta and some other specialty jobs
Due to no industry most of the jobs are retail, restaurants, lawncare, or some type of service
Mean While... Down Here In Florida Today NICE Weather!

Got that 100% dead on. I been here 35 years. And funny me and you on top of what you said live in a dead freight state. Rate and Quanity wise. We do pay for this weather for sure.

I have actually parked my truck in other states and flown home for 10 days for time off, if I am in a hot area it has been cheaper to grab a $200 RT ride and when I go back I am right in the zone again, not always but it has worked well a few times

I have actually hauled cars the past several years, I am flying up to MN for orientation to get in to flatbed work so I can't answer that on the freight side, I do know for cars that it's hit or miss, sometimes I could load 40 trucks out of Tampa or Orlando, other times although I can still get out it would maybe be better to run further north such as ATL
I probably load different than a lot of others, if I am in say Houston and I can load for ok money I still check surrounding States, it has happened many times that I made more per mile driving 3-400 miles empty and grabbing a full load that paid more than anything in Houston for all miles
Another thing I do quit often is, we own a ton of timeshare, I know it's not an investment but we like to travel so if I have been out 3 weeks and ready to go home I will usually book a week at some 5 star resort and my wife/kids will meet me there, vacation, out of the truck, and ready to go after the week off
As we all know, there is little or less money made anytime you have a specific zip code in mind to be at
That's just how I do it, I do well and my career is less of a J.O.B. -

But the thing is, when we get used to be on the road, I think it is hard to stay away from the noise of the big Rig, I believe it got into the blood stream... Any way, I really enjoy reading all of you guys, it gives me ideas and pumps up my enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing your experiences. -
I am staying for the 10 hours off duty at exit 55 on high way 4 with highway 27. In fact tonight is kinda chilly around here. Maybe on the high 50.
