also from what the others suggest. bring along baby powder or medicated powder like gold bond, because all that shifting around you will be doing, you're going to chaff.... unless either of you are DOT qualified to adjust breaks, you cannot do this, so forget the tools.........
That must be a change from 20+ years ago - he use to adjust his breaks (and trailer's) when needed before... Hmmm - lots of changes... He was even stopped at Cordealia (CA) before and couldn't move until they were adjusted... I remember that one clearly, because he was in a different truck than his own that time - and didn't have his tools with him and I had to bring him his wrench... Thanks for the info
yes, a change or two over the years.. must be certified as per: 49 CFR Part 396.25.... it's in "the green book"...... anyone adjusting brakes is 1000% responsible for the adjustments up to the time they are re-adjusted again.....either by the certified driver (again) or the shop mechanics.... any driver wanting to help out another driver by adjusting his brakes, becomes 1000% responsible for THAT driver and HIS equipment as well.... what i would suggest anyone in school do now is, inquire as to if the school teaches this and certifies the student.. this will look good on your resume`, even if your company still does not want you to adjust your brakes...even during orientation, inquire there as well...schools may charge an additional fee for this lesson/certification however...mine does.....
