I hope Doug dies painfully from an accidental fall off of his balcony after slipping on ice.

Owners.....What can I say? I have watched several of them put themselves out of business.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing I like better than starting a new company and hearing the owner say. "Boys, stick with me and I will take care of you later!" For awhile we have to collect on accounts before we get a paycheck but we are building a company! So the office staff operates forklifts, I beg borrow or steal a tractor to move trailers around but somehow we do what it takes and get it done. And that is when the owner changes. One day he looks up at his vast empire of five trucks, pats himself on the back and convinces himself he did this all by himself.

Then we the "I'll take care of you later" boys get taken care of. The owner leaves town for a month or so taking a long, well deserved vacation to Europe. We on the other hand keep tending to business. When the owner returns he has to establish his reign all over again...before his next vacation. The trucks are 10,000 behind in PMs, and the tire bill hasn't been paid for awhile so we are running bald tires. So we tighten our belts, stop spending money on unnecessary things like propane for the forklifts and cell phones and build it again and by the owners next vacation, we are back in pretty good shape.

After this well deserved vacation by the owner who has bought himself a new 'Vette. This time much less apologetic. You see, we are soon to be blamed for hindering the owners freewheeling lifestyle. We have now become the enemy, we who helped build this company in the first place are now the reason it can't function without the owner being there. Soon he resents having to pay holiday pay, any safety bonus program gets canceled. Uniforms get picked up, paychecks start bouncing and in turn your banker sees an open door to extract as much money as he wants out of your account. The electric company turn your lights off, the city turns your water off and quits picking up your trash. And now you know the owner that used to work side by side with you to build this company can no longer be trusted.

I have been through this a few times, and what I love is the look of indignation you get from the owner when you bring his bounced payroll check back with the "Insufficient Funds" stamped accross the front. It is fun.

I drive past Franklin Street in Fort Worth Texas, Cherry Lane in Fort Worth, 180 west out of Weatherford Texas and Money Street in Fort Worth and they are all gone. All because the owner got greedy. One just threw everything he had in a pickup and took off leaving a home filled with rental furniture and fuel account left unpaid, motel bills unpaid. I still own the plaque they gave me as employee of the year. I'm still owed one and a half months of pay but I am employee of the year.

Multiply this two bit operation and all its debt by a million and you might be getting pretty close to Arrow. But, I'll bet someone rewarded themselves handsomely. And I would not be surprised if the looting started after the last round of jacking the fuel prices up.

When oil was at its peak, an oil expert predicted that it would soon fall to around $35 a barrel. He was ridiculed and mocked for saying that but in the end, he was right. He also predicted that the stock market would be artificially propped up as a hedge against the dollar becoming absolutely worthless against other currencies. Now, if an idiot broke trucker from Fort Worth Texas knew about these trends 6 months before it happened, do you suppose the brass at Arrow did too? I bet they did. Is there a chance that they may have stashed every penny they had in an untouchable account getting ready for this day?

I wouldn't be a bit surprised. And if other companies find out the Arrow formula to keeping all the toys, I bet it will happen somewhere else...soon. The rich boys always take the money and run. I'm still waiting for the Enron boys to be brought to justice.

What I find to be the most pathetic is keeping the drivers child support payments from the state. These guys need to be buried under the prison.

    Now that is dirty pool.

Remember that song "Go on take the money and run" by Steve Miller? I didn't know at the time he was singing about Arrow.

There is a difference between going belly up after hanging in as long as you can in a rough economy vs. blowing million$ on luxury homes/cars/airplanes and lying to your employees, suppliers, ect. Arrow exec's were greedy & immoral, they deserve what they have coming..

Apparently he hasn't seen all or any of the news articles written about Arrow or even read the law suit that was posted in one of the Arrow threads and didn't hear about Arrow "suspending operations" on Dec 22 to make a statement like this!:biggrin_25516:

I have read all the news articles about Arrow and what they did was downright indispicable.I guess when they knew they were going to lose it all, they took the money and ran. I guess with little business ability they didn't know how to go to a bankruptcy lawyer.

A bankruptcy attorney would have required them to put the money into the company and restrict their use of funds. Easier to take the money and run.
