Yes most are 650-800 tops. There is some Florida stuff back to Kansas which is easily solved with a team. There are also a lot of 450 mile loads. 95 percent of the time I'm good. I won't leave without a fresh 10 hour break. Sometimes longer depending on weather, decides what time of day or night I will load and how long a ride they have.

I guess I will ask since no one else did, why would you log in and go directly to off duty for over half an hour, then on duty for 15 min, then back to off duty for 25 min. and never move the truck???

Maybe they should just have an (Humane) emergency clause "IF" you are going to run over because of weather, traffic etc. "IF" it was a doable trip with a full clock at the start? It sounds like running over would be the exception and not the rule??? Again, asking.

That would be great, and yes running over is the exception not the rule.

I can see a more than valid reason in hauling livestock for an exception, with that out of the way back to the OP, think about what you said, you only ran 37 miles that day, and you are complaining about not getting more time in.

Something to consider, "IF" EVERYBODY was running a legal clock, and yes some loads will be lost AND productivity goes down, now you also have a bunch of people threatening to leave the industry, to me one thing becomes VERY clear,,, What ALWAYS happens when freight gets backed up AND you have a lack of drivers/trucks to move said freight????

In my world the cost of shipping said freight goes "UP" !!!!!!! This is NOT a bad thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,

First I'm sure many , like me , have already ordered their ELD and intend to install it by the mandatory date .
I for one can't wait to see unicorns and rainbows over every hill once I install the magic box.
On a serious note I can't help but wonder if this trip was really necessary .
No one was saying the ELD fans had to remove them .
Why do ELD fans get so worked up over someone not having one , you act like they are stealing money from you .
If they are so great and you are more productive why force us ludites to use them , are you concerned we are not competitive with you and out of pure compassion your protecting us from ourselves.
Or are we just to ignorant to understand how this will be the greatest new safety device ever.
I think not , your worried that some imaginary driver , is out there , out earning YOU and that's what motivates all this hub bub.
Until we can get past our selfish differences and stick together nothing will ever improve in our industry.
You want to change the subject to HOS , OK , but then how many will come out and say, I like the way HOS is now and I don't want to give another driver some imaginary advantage over me .

Because anything that has a time stamp will match my logs. And generally, I log everything as it happens.

First block of on duty was getting unloaded. Then a short drive to the shipper where the next block of on duty was checking in.

    Then off to the sleeper.

Then they called me to pick up the bills... on duty... matches my cell phone log and the time stamp on the bills.

Move to the end of the parking lot, off duty, let the dog out, the back to the driving line to Fort Worth.

Check in at shipper... sleeper... back on duty to sign... back to sleeper just outside the gate on the street. Not a #### thing fudged.

Well stated. Myself, if you want an ELD have at it, if you make more or less money with it, what business is it of mine? I just want to be left alone. I have my routines and habits, and after nearly 30 years I am not in the mood to upend my entire world to comply with a stupid box on my dash that in my observations does nothing in regards to safety. In fact, my brief experience with PeopleNet showed the exact opposite. Accidents went up and then we had a fatality. PeopleNet was removed from the trucks, we went back to our normal safe routine.

I personally don't care whether there is a mandate or not, what I can't stand is the hate and vitrial that is thrown on us who run under them, then you make sone ######## claim that you can't run under them because you don't get the "flexibility" like you do on paper.

Do the entire industry a favor and call a spade a spade, that flexibility you're all talking about is log falsification simple as that

Thank God this is still America, where you can have your opinion, no mater how misguided. You'll have your day soon enough, as the people willing to fight this insane bureaucracy are getting fewer by the day.
