The whole point is to log EVERYTHING the way it happened...in other words 100% LEGAL!
Almost everyone knows how to be CREATIVE on their logs but that is not what Dave is trying to do. He wants to prove that you can't log 100% legal and be able to make enough money to live on and pay the bills.

Keep running by the book until Hollywood calls me for my big screen carreer kicks in, cuz I dont think American Idol is gonna call me!
Seriously, I just set my pole, just waiting for a few local companies to call me in for an interview. At this point, I'd take a job shoveling chicken #### (with a z)! It's got to be better thanwhat I am doing now!

This is all being brought about by the DOT's newfound ability to routinely audit companies for driver log violations using qualcom GPS data. If a company runs qualcom they can be hung out to dry if driver logs don't match up.

My company just started matching our logs to the qualcom data and giving us violations if they don't match within 15 minutes. The system even flags speed limit violations between stops. Truck gets pinged every time you pull the yellow button.

That said in the chemical tank biz customers get charged for not loading/unloading within 2 hours so we get paid as well. I run 100% legal and make a good living.

This could actually be a blessing to truckers in the long run if it forces real changes to be made at shippers and recievers.

Ah yes, you took that "class" too. Still haven't got paid for it, which they have to do, because they told me if I did not take the class, I would be fired. They used that "m" word.

Didn't help they switched to that stupid fuel route crap, which pretty much shows that you can't play at all with times.

Started at 0400, drove 80 miles to con., they took 2.5 hrs to unload, drove to Kennesaw, GA to p/u my next load, 45 mins, WOO HOO! drop/hook, 30 mins, drove to Wildwood Fl where I ended my day at 1745 after fueling the truck.

    Today was a good day!
drove 529 miles, 9.5 hrs driving, 3.5 hrs line 4
total $179.86 or $13.83 per hr
bad part is I used13 hrs today, I only have 7.5 on my 70 tommorrow. thankfully I only have 276 miles to go before I deliver in Miami at 0800, which I might be able to make on time as I can roll out at 0345. that gives me 4.25 hrs to get to the recv'r.
I already have my next load planned also!!! I have never seen this company plan ahead like this! I am suppossed to p/u at 1200 tommorow in South Bay, FL and take that to Jacksonville, FL for Sunday am.

What part of line 1 do people not understand. You only have to log line 4 for 15 mins loading or unloading if you do not have to touch the freight. You can be on line 1 or 2 in a dock if you want. I ask my family, Dad , uncle if they ever heard of a person getting a ticket for logs in a dock on line 1 or 2, in 40 years they have never heard of this. half that time was in California. Dave, why do you have so much line 4, do you unload your frieght yourself? If no, your cheating yourself.

If you want the cold hard truth, e-mail a friend of mine, his name is Kevin Miller. He works fo the California highway patrol. He educates the commercial truck industry on laws and everything trucking, hes a great guy and fights for drivers who are wrong by C.H.P., his e-mail is kmiller@chp.ca.gov Trust me, he has a libary in his house on commercial industry laws, he loves to help drivers and better educate them, he will tell you, i would rather teach someone then take there money or job. If you want a phone number, p.m. me

As for quallcomm, yes you can cheat, but not much, not like a paper log.

I know someone who used to cheat a lot running from S. FL to New Jersey. How he never got caught is something I will never get.

It is my understanding that you can log your on duty time on line one after 15min. But it will not stop your 14hr clock. All it will do it keep you from chewing up your 70. Most companies will not allow drivers to log on duty time and shipper or receiver on line 1. When I worked for Swift you were able to log on duty on line 1 after the initial 15.. Again putting yourself on line 1 does not stop your 14...
