Yepper, I'm proud to be an uneducated nut case. Oh well, let's see here. I am a licensed general contractor, certified welder, accomplished electrician, accomplished carpenter, [no, not woodworker]. I have been lucky enough, or maybe smart enough in your logic, to have done everything but one thing in my life that I set out to do. And that is to fly an F4 Phantom. Oh, and did I mention that I also spent 29 years at one of the largest power plants in the world, and actually operated it? All that time driving those trucks part time. Then full time when I was finally able to escape your world. And you know what? Driving a truck is the best job I've ever had. I don't have to deal with anyone for the most part, unless I chose to do so.
Yepper, and all that with only a high school diploma.

I could care less if anyone agrees with my views, we all have them. The thing is to have respect for each other, regardless of education, ethnicity, sexual preference if any, or other distinguishing factors. We are ALL people, and have the right to be treated as such. IMO, you seem a bit on the condescending side, maybe trying to prove to others how intelligent you are. I, for one, have dealt with thinkers like you for many years, but now I have the full fledged choice not to.

Please, next time use a thicker veil, if you catch my drift.

To say that most drivers are like those on this forum or on the CB is a injustice to the good, honest, hardworking drivers that stay off of the CB or have no desire to argue with others with fake names. Over the years I have met many drivers that I first new as a voice on the CB and 9 times out of 10 the true personalty is neither the one on the CB or chatting at the counter in a truck stop. For the few that I actually met on the road or the CB and then got to know their family as well there is a third personalty when at home.

If your knowledge of drivers is from the CB or forums then you do not have the best indicator of what drivers are really like. First count how many times a driver on the CB or even on this forum uses the word "I". If all they can say is "I" did this or "I" new more then everybody else or "I'm" the best then this is your first clue it's a lie. Or they may have a friend that has done or knows everything. Same lie different way of saying it. You would be totally shocked at the way that half of the writers on this forum really are in real live, nothing compared to the stories they tell. Behind this forum or CB drivers can be a hero in their own mind.

You may be surprised that if you get off of this forum and really meet the real drivers of the road how many has college degree's or are very successful business owner/operators. I know drivers that build computers in their spare time, carry laptops to build software programs and two that own and fly their own planes. Get to know the real drivers of the road not the ones with fake names on forums or the CB.

Yes, we do have too many drivers that dress like homeless people under a bridge, so ignorant that they throw pee bottles onto the parking lot, so stupid that they think others believe their stories, ignorant enough to get tickets and pay for them out of their pockets, or too lazy to take baths but we also have more that are safe, hard working, Christian, educated family men making a living for their family. To judge the professional driver by the few on this and other forums that tell lies and are ignorant is a grave injustice to the professional drivers.

Here's my position: if I HAD to explain it, you wouldn't understand. You have to LIVE it to understand. We truckers are no different, profane, insulting or sensitive or nutty than any other profession. Take a hard look at your other 4 wheeled drivers out there and see how THEY treat each other. Take a hard look at the inner workings of your police and sheriff's dept or fire department. I was also a CNA (certified nursing assistant, AKA a professional ###-wiper) for 14 years, you should sit in on a midnight shift during a full moon and see how sane, kind and rational things can be in the ER, Hospital or nursing home, NOT to mention the personal immunity the staff have to horrific tragedies and death. The job we do as truckers is immensely personal and intimate. Not only am I responsable for the safety of freight and equipment but also the safety of every other numbnut on the highway when I am rolling. The things we encounter as drivers would stupefy you. The stupidity, lack of courtesy, just plain rudeness and non-concern for others safety and human beings in general that we drivers see STUPEFIES us. Still, my all-time fav is still the guy with the Jesus fish and religious icons on his vehicle who cuts me off and flips me the bird..LMFAO. My neighbor, you should consider expanding your perceptions of the world around you. I for one am constitutionally incapable of punching a clock every day, seeing the same faces day in and day out, marching in line like a good little robot and playing the games that my stationary fellow Americans willfully participate in! Thank goodness we are not all the exact same for what a boring world it would be.

Thanks. You're right. Somebody can pretend to be something they really aren't in real life on internet forums and also on the CB radio. I think a lot of drivers on these boards just take out their frustrations a little bit and just want to have some fun I guess. When I posted the thread "Are there any smart truck drivers?", I just wanted to see if I could yank anybody's chain a little bit. And man I sure did. In real life I've met drivers I thought were nut cases, but I've also met drivers I thought were really good people--and even Christian people as you say.

I might have told this story, so I apologize if I'm repeating myself.

When we were kids in growing up in Cincinnati, there was an F-4 flying at pretty low altitude towards the north--probably on his way to Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. Anyway, we were out back in the swimming pool during the summer of either 1969 or 1970, and as he was flying past we started waving our arms and jumping up and down to get his attention. He couldn't have been more than a few hundred yards away. All the sudden he makes a sharp turn and then dives down right ont he swimming pool. As he is pulling out of the dive, he quickly rocks his wings back and forth two times as if he is saying "hi" to us. I'm not exaggerating when I say he was probably no more than 20 feet off the ground. And man he was loud!!! Neighbors came out of their houses to see what had just hit them. I've never forgotten that experience to this day. What would be the chances of that happening now is this PC world we live in? Somebody would report him, and he would lose his wings. But this was back in the days before the democrats completely took over America. Back in the days of freedom when people could do things without having to look behind their back all the time for fear somebody was going to sue them or rat them out. And of course it was during the Vietnam war.
