So put together some year end numbers. The first quarter I was still at FCC, in that quarter I ran 33,893 miles, grossed $48,266.00 for $1.42 per mile avg. That was on a mileage contract finishing up a lease purchase.

In the remainder of the year (9 months) leased to Landstar on a percentage contract I grossed $193,318.95, I ran 75,006 miles for an average of $2.57 per all miles. I averaged $3.12 per loaded mile. Between the two I grossed $241,584.85, with my preliminary numbers I should net $101,112.15.

My four years leased to FCC I averaged 152,174 miles a year. My goal at Landstar is to run 100K miles or less per year.

I made a $1.15 per mile more leased to Landstar, so it was definitely a good move business wise, financially, and personally.

So I was looking at the truck paper out of curiosity to see what the same truck I bought 7 months ago is going for, I Paid $66K for a 2018 International LT with 324k miles on the odometer, its an old Heartland express truck. The exact same truck with more miles on it, is selling for over $107,500. That’s freaking nuts!

Looks like you jumped in at just the most perfect of times. Would be hard to justify it now with uses truck prices so high.

congrats on such a very very successful 3/4 year. Hoping you see the same success in the coming year as well.

    stay safe

Thank you, I was hemming and hawing about selling my Freightliner or waiting. I’m glad I pulled the trigger when I did.

I read the other day and they expect the used vehicle market bubble to burst here soon.

I hope so, if the prices come down on used trailers this year I might pull the trigger.

I see a flatbed landstar guy every few weeks in Florida, driving a plain Jane cabover freightshaker. I’ve seen him for years, and I always think to myself “he must be making bank”, drives 55 and just does his own thing. Congrats on your success @runningman0661 I know my comment doesn’t have much to do with anything, but I’ve always enjoyed the different trucks I’ve seen pulling for Landstar, a few weeks back I saw some sweet K100’s pulling oversized in to Florida, there’s no lack of unique equipment over there for sure.

Careful what you wish for. What do you expect will happen to that nice fat rate we've been getting once it becomes easier for people to add equipment to the game…
