Same ECM as as a C-16 just different software, in fact most of the C-18 parts are shared with the C15/16s, only crank, rods, pistons, cam, injectors and turbo are different (and manifolds if you have a twin turbo C-18).

The C-16 would be cheaper for the power level your after for sure but as they say....there's no substitute for cubic inches.

Are you just looking for high performance or is this going to be a daily driver? Asking beacause 59 injectors will not pass a smoke test. Up in ontario, trucks have to pass a throttle snap test, have had some engines with 58 injectors with 5232 fail! Limit here is 40 ppm, he blew a 41. Most 3406e engines blow 6 top 8 ppm. He did not have a boost sensor or fuel wire installed. Just letting you know, would not want to see you spend alot of money and end up having issues.

DDS, Wow ! This is one of the most intelligent builds I've read about, high HP (without going crazy), low temp, low man pressure, high mpg. You need to patent & start mass producing !

DDS, thanks for the info. The truck will be a daily driver. what injectors, cam, and such would you suggest? Would you use that migh. stage 5 turbo that's been suggested? I've also been told that you can redo the ecm. What would be the cost?

I would just get the fuel temp wire, dont get the boost wire AKA smoke wire as it does nothing for power but gives you response with elevated soot levels in oil.

As far as pricing is concerned on ecm programming you should take this off the forum as people have got in trouble here before "selling" services without contributing.

    830hp,

I put the 6TS injectors in mine yesterday. They are just what I was looking for. They burn really clean and gives a sizable bump in power. If I let the rpms come down and stand on it (PPBox on 2)I get a quick puff that quickly clears. Normal driving (PPBox on 2) just rolling on the throttle, there is no visible smoke. I really havent had a chance yet to test for boost gain and egt changes. I was only grossing 88,000 today and didn't come across any hills where i could load it down enough to observe max boost and egt.....if that could be considered a problem.:biggrin_25525: I will try to report back tomorrow.

I'm with 550 on the boost wire......Not needed.

I have never seen anyone mention the ball bearing type turbo have a look at Garrett turbo they have a graph on response times between b/bearing and journal, the b/bearing is much faster.
Also it looks stronger I would say the price is stronger too.

Talk to Tom at "turboresource" it worth a try.

Some of the downsides to BIG HP I have found is:

Higher soot levels in the oil

Lost all lowdown power, cant let RPMs drop any lower than 13-1400

"Turbo Surge" On gear changes you have to back off the power slowly if you back out fast the boost will stop the turbine and the turbo will only take so much of that before leaving the engine.
There was a write up on "turbo surge" on another site it was very helpful on how to look after your turbo with big HP.

We some times have to double shift my truck unloading boats........This doesn't happen anymore as I cant find anyone I trust enough to drive it now.

All engines are different and used different ways these are just some of the things I have found with our weights and roads you might have a totally different experience.

At the end of the day I think its worth the time and money after 20 years in the seat I love getting into a truck that is a little different and I don't think I will ever get used to passing other trucks so fast and smiling like a 18 year old.

Another downside is people "raining on your parade",if they don't like it I don't see why they should run you down.
I never let that side get to me.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Which injectors did you have in it before?
