Thank You your service pards...........from a retired Navy Engineman. I don't know how nimble you are on the leg, but I have a ex-Marine friend here local that drives a flatbed everyday with a Prosthetic leg. (delivers sheetrock)

You don't need an automatic. There was a 60+ year old guy in my CDL class who was doing a recert and getting a waiver after having his left leg amputated. He passed and went back to work. We didn't have any automatics, and none of the trucks were any newer than 12 years old.

US Xpress has autos, or at least they did a few years ago when someone I knew worked there, might be worth checking out

    Those IEDs are something else.
I was thinking that you shouldn't underestimate your capabilities even though you lost part of your left leg.
We had a very famous British WWII pilot called Douglas Bader who was shot down in his plane and lost BOTH legs from above the knee. He was also a POW.
The doctors told him that he would never walk again.'
He said "Sod that!!" and proceeded to walk on 2 false legs WITHOUT any walking sticks or crutches.
I mean imagine that when such prosthetic legs were experimental.
It took him awhile to figure it out and he had to learn how to walk again. But walk he did as if he had never lost them.
But he did it and everyone was amazed. If he can do that, I'm sure you could broaden your horizons and never say NEVER.
But good luck to you sir, and I'm glad you came out of that mess relatively unscathed.
Something to be admired and it's amazing how you can adjust over time.

You would probably also qualify for a truck DP hang tag. If so, take it.

US Xpress is going back to mostly an automatic fleet. Cascadia and Petes.
