Hey y'all, I turn 21 in July and I'm so excited! I've been looking forward to going OTR for a long time! Since I'm getting closer to my 21st I've been doing a lot more research in a good company to go with. I don't have my CDL yet so I am looking for a company that provides CDL schooling and will hire me on at 21 when I'm done training for them. I live in Florida so a company that offers schooling in or near Florida would be ideal, but I'm willing to compromise if I have to. Any and all input for advice/suggestions is always greatly appreciated since I'm young and inexperienced. Thank you!
Back in 2006 when i was 21 i got started pulling schneider tanks. i dont know if the policies have changed on age since then. the big companies will train and hire. To be bluntly honest you would make more working 70 hours a week in fast food joints. and you could sleep in a house with fancy stuff like running water, a clean toilet seat and so on. Go for a tank or flatbed job if you must hit the road. Those lines of work are not as flooded with dummies who work for peanuts as van and reefers are.
