I've just been in a bit of a funk lately... I'm normally an upbeat person.

I'd jump off a bridge IF I had to settle for that.

What would be the value in taking a job that I know I'm not going to be satisfied with... note I didn't say happy. If I'm not 'satisfied', I will likely not be successful... the money is important, yes... but my mental health is something I have to live with and so do those around me.

When I worked my first job hauling groceries for 5 years into NYC... all 5 boroughs... Long Island and NJ... We always swore we'd never work for Schneider... JB... and probably a few others that I can't remember... and to think that I would consider that now is troubling... I apologize to any of you that work for those companies... more power to you... please forgive me. At the time I suppose it seemed to be an act of desperation...

Aim for the smaller companies. They are much more forgiving and your chances of success will be substantially higher than at one of the mega-carriers.

Schneider is a good company; probably much better than most mega carriers.
Panther Expedite will probably take you but it's OTR.
Sometime most of us in our lives have had to sacrifice job satisfaction for awhile to earn an income for us and our families. It's only temporary though, just a step we must take to reach another goal. You're not getting any younger, so better get a move on and start that 401K and prepare for the inevitable...retirement, either by choice or forced.

There are lots of smaller operations in MA/CT. Why go for a mega carrier and all their endless nonsense? Snag a tanker endorsement if you haven't got one already and go look for a milk linehaul gig. Go apply at TMC for their Lowes dedicated out of Westfield, or Home Depot dedicated out of Norwood. Ryder runs a Best Buy dedicated account out of Bellingham, with shuttle drivers in Springfield. And this is just off the top of my head, things I have personal acquaintance with.
