I'll be going to CDL school in September and Schneider is one of the companies I'll be considering. There's a lot of good advice here. I'm curious if the OP knows which fleet they'll be starting out on? Dry van, "reefer", tanker, otr, dedicated, etc? What OC / training facility are you going to?

Just as a help, Schneider has some of their training videos on youtube so you might want to look at some of those ahead of time just to familiarize yourself. Here's a couple for starters:

Woah! Didn't expect so many replies haha. Feeling more confident after reading all your responses. Based in the burbs of Chicago so I'll be going to the terminal in Gary, IN for orientation. Decided to go dry van OTR.

And yeah it was mostly the road test that gave me worry, still remember the pre trip and what I was taught about maneuvering / shifting, just don't wanna mess up lol.

Tuesday is drug test paper work.
    Wednesday and is class work.
Thursday and Friday is 1/2 class work 1/2 driving.
The second week it’s driving Monday and Tuesday n Wednesday if I remember correctly. Thursday and Friday are test days they don’t tell u. MAKE SURE U STUDY CHAPTER 3 n 6. Just relax and try not to make the same mistake. Ask questions and if u can get some people together for trip planning it’s easy once u get it. Good luck it’s a good company but they will test ur patience AND STAND UP COR UR SELF AFTER U GET HIRED. Let the DBL know if your not happy!

That sounds like something I just want to play on. I would pay to drive a truck on a skidpad.

well if you don't work for Schneider when it gets closer to the winter time you can go up to the Eaton Fuller proving grounds outside of Battle Creek Michigan that used to have a skid pad wear if you ask your safety director they would pay you to go up there to learn how to drive on a skid or ICY surface..
what's needed when you're in that range truck and I will shut your driving normal and it throws you unexpectedly into a jackknife you learn real quickly

Yeah, probably no where near the Gary yard.
Probably be able to pick up a crap game nearby though.
As Doc Holiday would say, "its very cosmopolitan."

I've heard it's a very different company now.
