I don't know anything about OTR, so anyone with more experience let me know, but I get uncomfortable with an offer of a specific run being offered with so little experience. When I was a newby, I went through a temp agency for a job that the company said would be "four on, four off, $4,000/month"; well, sure enough, they pulled a bait-and-switch on me, I ended up doing fill-in and crap runs. Not to discourage you, but bring it to your attention. Just be sure you're gonna get what they claim to be offering. Again, if I'm off-base on this, someone else please say so. Best of luck to you, and I hope your wife is doing well.
thanx for response..wifes recovering well..i no its far fetched to think i can go local so soon.but i just want somewhere to get my exp up ..but bs is bs and i usually see it from far away but i only no what my comp does and just needs some real world advice on other comps.
Just a forewarning..Unless you're in a bigger local market, or haul specialized (ie- heavy haul, hazmat/tankers, etc.) most "local" jobs will burn you up. The only way to make good money is to bust your hump beyond reason (ie- 12-15 hr days, 5-6 days a week, basically so wiped out when you get home you shower, eat, and fall asleep just to do it all over again the next day!) Ask me how I know.....I was dedicated OSOW hauling 8 axle rgn setups up to 160,000lbs, and bringing home around $1000 a week, but had no life other than killing myself at work..... Now? After over 10 years I'm getting a divorce and going back OTR to get some rest......
You can do that. But don't be intimidated by New York, a competent driver can make a bundle specializing in that region.
