New driver considering Melton. Good idea or would there be a better fit elsewhere?

Melton runs elogs, no prepass unless you order and pay the monthly fee. Also, 65mph truck, told where to fuel. But man he should run teams and get 10k a week.

Another option is Averitt. They have a terminal not far from the house. Any thoughts on them?

If you want to get by both homes often, then look at Sunstate Carriers. They do lots of Florida/Canada turns.

The man said he'd rather tarp than bust out all 12 chains too...Does that mean that since you tarp loads, you don't need to use the same securement of an untarped load? You seem like you are living in a very unsafe fantasy world there sprocket.

Anyway, OP, From what I hear Melton is a #### good company. They train well, and have very nice rigs. I've been contemplating buying one. They're mileage based, so obviously you want either long loads, or the shorter loads with enough miles to deliver in a day or so...(500-600 miles or so?) I'm not a driver there, but I do pay some attention to the threads and such. Not too sure about mpg bonuses or anything like that. Tarping is a good workout, heck, so is chaining and strapping if you think about it. Your fore arms will get shredded real fast.

Army91w, I've been reading your blogs, very informative and entertaining. Thanks for your service, I did some time myself. Just a quick question: I've stayed away from drugs my whole life, have a clean MVR, and no convictions of any sort. I understand that Milton does a hair follicle drug test. Do they take a sample from head or body? I've got plenty of head hair, but my girl likes me to keep everything neatly trimmed from the neck down. The reason I'm asking is that I've heard rumors that if you show up with no body hair, they mark it as a refusal to test and that goes on your DAC. Thanks in advance.

they they take the hair for we're they can get it. Even if it comes back hot it does not get recorded outside melton records because it is not a federal test!
