The e-Cigarette is -NOT- a smoking cessation product...it is simply a "healthier" alternative. Any reseller selling it as a smoking cessation product is simply out to empty your pockets.
Propylene Glycol is the same ingredient used in fog machines and if you do a little Google research you'll find it has been used in hospital ventilation systems as a germicide.

They're more trouble than they're worth IMO. The technology leaves a lot to be desired and involves a lot of modification to even get them to work as intended. The experience is fair when they work, but my advice would be to avoid any of the ones that try to actually look like a cigarette. They are the worst of the worst.
-
I've been tobacco free for a year now. The modifications all depend on what model you are using.
Definitely avoid the tiny cigarette ones...they are worthless. -

Smoking bad, losing cigarette tax revenue worse, I guess.

It's a shame that ignorance and stupidity are going to decide the fate of the best smoking substitute to ever come along. I've been using an e-cig for more than a year. Anything that helps you avoid even a few cigarettes per day is a good thing.
Politicians are losing taxes, Big Pharm is losing sales on their smoking cessation devices, and Big Tobacco is losing sales. So do you think there is a very big lobbying group out there fighting the e-cig?
The anti-smoking association simply thinks that we have found a way to keep smoking and avoid paying taxes.
Such a shame... -
Is that thing really good? I've been thinking about picking up the $29 trial deal at Pilot for my brother in law. I quit my three pack a day habit about fifteen years ago myself, after watching my dad die of lung cancer. My brother-in-law has been probably my best friend since we were 8 years old, plus he's my nephew's dad, I'd hate to see him go that way. He can't seem to be able to put them down.
Also, what is the cost comparison between that and smoking a pack a day? Is it more expensive or cheaper? -
The best way to go is to get a high quality mod and buy the juice seperate. I can promise you you want the extra battery power and higher capacity. Different strokes for different folks as far as the atomizers go.
If you want a good experience, try a juicebox. Regardless, you definitely want to know what you're jumping into before you start purchasing anything. The 801's are pretty good atomizers but suck up a lot of juice.Last edited: Apr 4, 2010

Looked up e-cigarettes. I see a set of 7 cartridges are ten bucks. how long does a cartridge last? -
rubbergearsnextyear offers good advice. The Njoy models, sold at Pilot, and some others are really not very good models and will end up costing you more initially and in the long run. The E-cigarette-forum is a good place to research. There are many different models and most of them are well made. You should be able to determine what fits you best by researching at that forum. There are many US and UK eJuice producers that make a very pure product and very cost effective. The China products are usually good but I prefer the US products and trust them more. I also mix my own juice to get the right strength, taste that I prefer, and cost effective product.
It's always better to look before you leap, so do your own research.
