I too can see the results from looking and watching these ''e-loggers''.They are stressed out, tired,in a hurry and have a monkey on there back as soon as they go on duty..I watched one guy come off an 11 hour drive and took his 10 off next to me.9 hours later when i woke up he was still playing x-box on his stearing wheel.

I asked him if he slept and he said hell no,i am not TIRED but e-log shut me down. This guy will be back on the highway for another 11.Let's see here..11+10+11=32 hours of no SLEEP...Yep,e logs are the safe way..:biggrin_2559:

Must have watching newbie truck drivers with e-logs being stressed. And the driver you mentioned didn't seem stressed by the answer he gave you. I would guess he was just relaxed and playing the xBox to take a little time before he was legal to drive. Someone who is following the regulations would do the same thing on paper. No moderately experienced driver I know of has any stress level using e-log. I have been on it for almost 2.5 years and it doesn't raise my stress level any. The majority of O/O that are leased on with the carrier I am with were here when this got started and are still at it. It hardly ever comes up in conversation around the trailer lot or driver's lounge anymore and no one is chomping at the bit to take their truck elsewhere. But, you did make the point I was getting at in asking the question, so thank you for that. And to the point about safe..... no one that has been breathing oxygen has ever stated categorically that e-logs are safer. That would be foolish. It has nothing to do with safety, it never did. It has always been about compliance with the regulations. I am not sure how everyone got on the e-log and safety thing. I will be the first to admit that they have nothing to do with each other. Yet, folks seem to want to try and equate e-logs and safety, good or bad.

Good Point.I am sure these are valid.I am sure it is ''just me''.It is tough to teach an old dog new tricks.
I have over 3 Million safe miles and i did it ''my way''.In which is ''not the right way''.I enjoy stress free trucking, going to sleep when i want and lolly gagging around.I enjoy the sights and screw off most days.Sometimes it takes me 20 hours to go 400 miles.:biggrin_2559:..

I for one am not into the whole ''micro'' management.I do no my days are numbered in trucking.Once they take my ''freedom'' away and monitor me like a ''lab rat'',I will sell out and thank the trucking industry for all the nice things i have on a trucker pay.Paid for 200,000 home, paid for Harley and no debt..I for one can walk away and go ''local'' by the hour till retirement.

I feel more sorry for the ''newbies'' coming aboard.I do not think they will ever have the life i have had in trucking and make the money i made, the way it is set up today. The whole system is broken for the ''new people''.IMO

It actually helps the newbies, because you don't have all these companies pushing the drivers pass their breaking point. ON load that could have been picked up a day early, but because the company knows they can get drivers to fudge the book. They picked up another load, and now trying to rush a driver to make on time delivery. You guys and your stories. Wish they could be more believable, but I guess they are to some. Good day sirs.

I like the driver that burned up his ''3'' hours at the shipper. Now he has 680 miles to go and 11 hours to do it.This driver is fun to watch..

Talk about ''STRESS''.I see them hanging there heads out the window at 2 a.m. trying to ''stay awake''..I see them going 80 MPH,Hammer down..Yep,it's all about ''safety''..:biggrin_2559:

No now you have some newbie rushing around trying to get ever second out of his elog that he can because dispatch is yell roll on you have 15 more minutes you can run. I am far from a newbie a rookie a green hat, I have tried elogs. easy to work the log as far as operation yes. but more stress trying to make points on time and get every minute you can out of that little box. A driver gets sick on elog or has a bad day he loses his day or time. I can lie alittle on my paper and still make my point with out putting others in danger by taking a break.

    Ill keep my paper

---The fear of having to be prepared to look for yet another job using a 7 page resume and live on $34k/yr or less (minus gov.taxes/medical ins deductions) 'till retirement---- is why, I think, most of us dont mind NOT being 100% accurate on our logs; otherwise, if we dont make the appointment times, our employer looses business, so they have to give crappy runs to drivers that are late always, or gotta let go either the drivers that are almost always late or the sales person that's not setting the appointment time correctly, .... so, until I find an employer that pays me over $60K/yr and lets me log 100% safe-legal-and-accurate - I guess am just gonna do as best and as much as I can do with my logs to please DOT and Employer; If i do, then there's money in the bank AND if i save enough and am smart with my money - then I should be able to pursue a more relaxed and fullfilling career, maybe even a 9am - 5pm career with Swift.

If the are lucky to do 80. You should see the 65 eloggers that go through that. bouncing off the cab walls trying to figure out if he will have a job tomorrow when he is late getting there....lol and they think its so safe having a computer tell you what to do. Id rather give up my cdl and get a job where atleast I can have a person tell me what to do...lmao
