I completely agree. I have no issue giving a couple hours to get loaded or unloaded. But after that, money needs to start changing hands. Even better, as soon as I arrive, an hourly wage starts up. Not minimum wage though. Make it 20 and hour or so and I'd listen. But this is something that needs attention but no one seems to care. Most places we go to are first come, first serve. That way the company doesn't have to pay detention cause they don't set appointments. Baloney. Again, the driver just can't win. You just have to suck it up and deal with it. No one wants to listen or assist. That's why I have a satellite, xbox etc.... I tried the just sitting there.....can't do it. lmao
Well the office staff does not sit for 2 hours and not get paid. No person working for a living does that except for the trucker.
Again...Hours of Service is NOT ABOUT SAFETY..!!!!!!!!... Follow the money trail and we all will see what it is about....Peak behind the curtain once and a while. The sad part it comes to them at our expense...(working middle class)..
Im not sure--about the dock time--but my point(and yours I think)is about their idea of an unaltered sched---especially when I listen to newer drivers driving for bigger outfir(and especially elog) they seem to b expected to drive 11 take 10 go again--and with so many driver complaining about the 1/2 hour I also take into consideration they are runnin as much as possible--with this as the case my point STILL si the new reset provision will do everything BUT keep drivers on a regular cycle-- Just do the math--reset--start 5am--early day shift Day one just running--11 hour driving-1/2 break--1/4 pre or post trip ttl--11.75 start5am end 445pm 10off--next day 245am-1230p 10off-next day 1030p-915am So where is the regularity???? Then off for 34--w/2overnights--body back to dayshift-- Its a nightmare--you will never get in a rhythm--this scenario I am describing is the most dangerous I have seen--but it is what it will be--especially with the mega carriers--unless they decide to give their whole fleet 14-15 hours off per day to stay on the same sched Now whats the chance of that????
Couldnt agree more--spent somewhere around 25 years on originals--got used to the ones we have now--and Ill(we'll)get used to the new ones--yup they suck My only point/intent here was to point out how fatelly flawed the gov'ts argument is about sleep cycles--regular scheds
Yes and no. As a paramedic, I worked up and down at night and day. It was difficult to say the least. What I do now is mostly 9 to 5 for delivery. No late nights or early am. My clock stays regulated and so does sleep.
