New owner operator, top 5 veteran tips?

Lots of good info in this forum. I suggest taking the time to read through some of the threads. Biggest key here is knowing true operating costs. To many guys are out here running for the cost of fuel and truck payment with nothing left afterwards and somehow still think they are doing good. Maybe they have a rich wife? Haven't figured that out yet. Know your numbers!

 

When I win the lottery I'm just gonna buy a brand new Peterbilt and haul lumber til I'm broke.

 

Is that how bad its become, or are you just funnin? I thought you were one of the rather positive guys on trucking.

Good advice. Americans live off of credit cards and think they've got money until they realize, all they have is more bills than they can afford to pay. It's the absolute truth, I'm convinced.

Open o/o section and read all the threads in a row as many as you can. I did this for 6 months in a row before opening my authority and feel like I learned more, than someone who has been in the business for 6 years and learned on his own.
