The death hours would be the time that drivers fall asleep are worst from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM however 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM also have drivers falling asleep.

There's benefits to each. A lot of places we deliver to are "9 to 5", so there's a good chance you'll be running days regardless. I've had my schedule flipped to nights this week, and it's not too bad, but it's hell to find a parking spot to take a break or something. You'll be the jerk parking at the pump for his break sometimes (luckily they're usually half empty at those times). But, if you finish your day after 8am, parking is VERY easy, lol. That's another thing to remember when you drive days. Start early. 4 or 5 am, even earlier if you like. Then you never have to worry about parking or parking like a jerk when the place is full (you'll see what I'm talking about when you're out there). I hate parking after 5 PM.

Beside easy parking you would avoid traffic and breeze by major cities. I start around 1-5am depending which city I'm going to hit and how far it is

Less traffic at night, but there are more drunks on the road, driving in bad weather at night will tire you out faster than in the day, and sometimes your appointment time is during your sleeping hours.

Easier to get around at night, I like to start before dawn. The glare at night during heavy rain sucks and don't forget the deer!!! Deers love to hang out on the side of a two lane highway and play with your head(four legged ninjas).:biggrin_2554:

There is a fair chance that you won't have the ability to choose between day and night. You will work to make your scheduled deliveries.

Chances are, like others say, most trucking is done during the day. The only ones that usually run at night are line haul and bulk tank drivers, gas, blower truck drivers or grain haulers. RR yards are open 24 hours, but most of those deliveries are during the day. When I pulled RR cans, I'd pick them up at night, get past the scale before daylight, and camp out somewhere until morning.
Personally, I would never drive during the day again. My nerves just can't handle old people, distracted drivers that start out late, and drive like idiots, and stoplights every block. While drunk drivers are a concern, I'd usually take a break around closing time, and now with those awesome deer guards, even that isn't a big concern anymore.

I usually drive at night, at 3am it starts getting hard. That's just from my experience's. Ive had to pull over several nights to take a break.
