Old wives tale. There are no animal exemptions.

I once drove from Houston to Waxahatchie to load then home with no working air conditioning in June. It was 105 or better the whole trip. One plus was I didn't have to stop to use the bathroom despite drinking mass quantities of water and Gatorade.

Most officers are human. It's the carb agents who aren't.

California does issue a sticker to newer trucks that exempt them from the idling laws. Some of the other states and localities honor those california stickers. Some do not.

I work outside/inside, drive in my current job, working on rooftops installing satellite dishes it gets #### hot. I have served in our beloved military in the navy, working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier during the most recent conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan. It easily gets to 130+ degrees on the flight deck during flight ops, even when there aren't any planes on deck its still over 100. Ive seen the desert heat of Iraq when we were sent as relief for base security forces. Ill tell you one thing right now, those people over there are accustomed to the heat as high as 125, they've been raised since childhood in it, and their bodies can acclimate to the chances quite often. I believe in my current field I have grown accustomed to the high heat and can deal with it.

However its a simple fact that a vehicle on an 80 degree day can and does get above 120 degrees inside unless their is air conditioning, or open windows, and even then the open windows might not work to well. Fans can only do so much when it comes to keeping humidity low, eventually all your doing is moving hot, humid air. The human body is not designed to deal with that kind of heat for very long, not without assistance. Being what it is, modern day air conditioning was created in the US, and thankfully I dont have to go without.

I know what you mean about the flight deck I was a HM2 and that flight deck is like a sun oven. I never did get used to the heat in Iraq/Afghanistan and Im certain it fried a few circuits in my head. I have worked in the dead sun in 100+ weather and I will say I perfer A/C when I can get it.
