poles have a way of jumping out in front of you..

    • In an attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole.
      • The telephone pole was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out of the way when I struck the front end.

I say cut the guy some slack, his record is a million times cleaner then most who show up asking questions.

Not if you were not cited for anything your fault . i have one myself . When I go for a new job they always want to know what happened as insurance company needs to know . Your mvr does not tell the story . A police report does . I was hit by a driverless pick up truck rolling out of a parking space . They just ask you what happened and that is that . It is mainly a matter of if you could have avoided the accident . If not your good .If you could have then may be a problem . your car does not have the same responsibility as a truck . In truck they go by if you can or can not avoid it . Same accident could be deemed avoidable in a truck situation.
something good to always remember is that as a truck driver you are held to a higher standard than others . Always let the cars do as they want even if it is not right as you do not want any accident on your record . Being very courteous is to your advantage .

to the point of what happened . ..
    1. Backing into a pole may be not at fault because you slipped around in snow . this happens all day long and you they know that . how ever it could be seen as avoidable if they think you were not being careful enough .
    2. On ice you need to be very careful no matter what you drive . A truck is big and heavy and on top of that it sides just as easy as your car . If a brake check caused you to spin out then you were too close . Why would someone brake check you if not ? Stay way bake when on ice . your truck will hit at a very hard impact as it is not going to slow down much at all .
sometimes you just lose it on ice . If cars in front of you start spinning or piling up you need a lot of room to slow and maneuver around to avoid them .
You best not tell any potential employer that you were brake checked . that is a big red flag for them that you drive too close which is by the way a big problem in a truck . You might want to read fmcsa 383.51 as you can get a suspension of cdl for 60 to 120 days for that plus a hefty fine . the cops do drive around in trucks as passengers watching for this stuff sometimes .

My insurance statement says not at fault. I didn't expect that, but that's how it worked out. Responsibility isn't the issue. Of course the pole didn't jump out in front of me. But I have no points and a not at fault insurance judgement in writing . For two acidents. That's all I wanted to know about . Does it matter or not. Are the trucking companies ardent or hardcore and don't care.

No I wasn't following too close. There were no vehicles except one , at least 50 yards in front and a few hundred yards back. As far as spinning out. I had four snow tires, and the studs were on the back. Which was wrong, Making the back very unstable. And the front very sticky. Very difficult to arrest a spin or fishtail. in front wheel drive. One brake grabbed before the other and that started the fishtail. Which I couldn't arrest before hitting a road devider.
For the record. I believe the police didn't cite me ( opinion) for a few reasons. The ambulance took me away before they arrived. And they showed up in the ER . looked around and left. I think they thought I was going to die , and said nevermind , he's had enough already. And no other car or damage involved except mine. And my car was not blocking traffic . Was in the berm. Or I have a CDL. And fines are big trouble for employment.

As far as the pole. Insurance said you been paying us for 6 years . Youre a diamond member. I flat out told them I did it and have been turning there for for 20 years. And they said you havnt ever made a claim , and its Not at fault.

Actually after the fact I could of easily let off the gas and probably slowed before I got near him, but yea my thoughts were don't hit anybody. And the mess started.
