Op has his answer. I don't even understand why he'd waste time with a thread. Op has a lousy dispatcher. If a driver even hints at not making a pick up it's off him and he's sitting. He wants too call me later because he's feeling better. Fine, you'll get a load when I find you another one. Sit tight.

All this freight you haul gets rescheduled all the time. Shippers and brokers always face capacity issues. You'll probably pick up the same load even 48 hours from now.

Tomorrow's headline, semi truck driver crashed. Driver claims his dispatcher made him do it??!!....

Document everything. Put everything on that Qualcomm about how sick and tired you are. And then go to sleep and run when you feel better. Would love to know what company this is.

You are the master of your ship/truck. Always. No matter what anyone says. No matter who you drive for. You are the ONLY one who can determine when you drive.

Send a message by Qualcomm or text or email stating you cannot safely drive due to your illness and fatigue. Copy the email to your company safety department. Then do what you need to to get better.

When you are ready to drive again, fire your DM if you have to call the owner of the company to do it.

    Driver tip:

    Wash your hands.

(Its amazing how many don't at the truck stop)

And please be curteous and crank down another towel if you didn't crank it down yourself.
    Etiquette 101....

You should be resting right now instead of coming on the forum.

Hi TGB, driver, you pull the pin , RIGHT NOW, and that's an order. (as if) I have/had the same thing for almost 2 1/2 weeks now, it's a nasty one, they say 2/3 of the people that got flu shots will get this one. I couldn't imagine trying to drive with this. You tell them, I'm out of service until I feel better, and I wouldn't call them until I did feel better. Please, don't run anymore! They'll get over it, and if they don't, I'd get a lawyer.

I'm going to toss my two cents in here...

I see it this way. Pick who you'd rather piss off more.
Your dispatcher? Or the police/a family/court/dot?

If you EVER think it is unsafe for you to drive, regardless of the reason. Your dispatcher only has control over your job. The law has your life!

You can always get another job. Most companies would sympathize. Try getting another job after you've had your CDL revoked...

I agree.I had the flu a couple times on the road and the worst thing you can do is work when you're sick, that only makes you sicker.I politely asked my dispatcher if you could find me a swap I am in no shape to drive any further and both times they found swaps.Had I been in the ops shoes I would have told my dispatcher while at the shop getting trl fixed.

Just go to sleep. Don't get mad at the dispatcher, just kindly inform him you're going sleepy time and will let him know when you're good and ready to drive again.
