Hi dog-c, it's cool, she got back to me, and she's dropping the wagon, and going home.

I ended up having to call in but instead of calling into dispatch as I normally would I called the front desk and talk to the lady there about who I would talk to. She took it upon herself to not only send me to dispatch but also sending email that I needed to go to get to the doctor. Suddenly, I had permission to go home.

They sent me a Qualcomm message to drop the trailer in portland and told me over the phone to go home. I'm sending a Qualcom message saying that I am headed to the yard as directed and home as we discussed and I will let them know what the doctor says as soon as know something.

As for the hours thats what I was told to run. STT said that that was how we had to do it as truckers to be able to make our loads. & I get in trouble with the company if I don't make the load on time. So I do a lot at 8/2 splits some tens and I run as hard as I can. That's the first time that I've had to actually do that but I would not have made the load any other way and they were not giving on anything they insisted I could make it if I did this.

Ok off to home and the doc.

Once you're well let us know. And for future reference... If you can't do a load, for any reason, don't even take it.

Ive called my dispatch before and told them I can't take one, they'll whine and protest and ask why...but I haven't lost yet. Lately they've not made me call in for that, I've got a rhythm and they know how I run.

I'm glad you're going home as everyone else is but in the future don't let this sort of thing happen again. If you feel something coming on then get it under control before it gets worse. Also never feel intimidated or threatened by your dispatcher because otherwise they're going to feel they have you on a short leash and no driver should ever be treated that way. You're the captain of your ship and the back bone of trucking. If you feel you have good valid reasons for not taking a load then don't feel you're going to get fired if you don't take it. But also don't wait hrs like with your last load to tell your dispatcher either. You both need to work together and communicate.

LOL!!!:biggrin_25523: That sounds like a Dispatcher's answer right there!!! Eat some marshmallows and get rolling.:Trailer:

To the OP....while you are home, look for a different company to drive for.

OP, quit falling victim to your dispatchers games. If you can't comfortably run the load with a complete 10 hour break. A real break, not delivering or picking up on line 1 or 2, then refuse the load. Once you get it figured out, you'll laugh that you didn't see it sooner. If they can't get a load covered, it's their problem. If they can't use you legally, then find a company who will. Your next company will be glad to have you.

The cowboy err uh cowgirl days are over...

While you are home resting if you get a chance you need to call OOIDA. It sounds like SST is a bunch of morons along with the dispatchers

yeah and heres another from famous abe......"cant run, exhausted. Dispatcher: go out and run around the trailer a few times"
Incredible logic behind the dispatchers who couldn't pass a g.e.d. exam

That kind of funny, had a dispatcher tell me that one time, just finished my day, 735 miles, received call, hey? Can you repower a load?, Maybe, where is it? Where's it going? And when does it deliver?, That doesn't matter! Can you do it or not?, Well! I just drove 735 miles and I'm kind of tired! Just run around the trailer a few times, to wake yourself up. Click! That's was my comment back to him
