D&H is nice but how many trailers do you get that are problematic? I've worked for 1 mega company and seemed that more trailers would be left with issues that the previous driver didnt correct than the trailers that are compliant...

Could be different with your company but I doubt it...

I couldn't go back to sharing trailers... That's just me.

Recently, not so much. 3 or 4 years ago, a lot.
But, let's do the simple math.
Trailer is broke down, takes 3 hours to get it fixed. Maybe once a week.
Live load/unload, 2 hours on both ends 4 times a week.
    Who's doing better?

And now we enter the "My dog is bigger than your dog" phase of the thread.

@Farmerbob1 before I ever booked my own, I used to practice booking myself using the free load boards.

You have to incorporate your hours of service into your plan as well.

I knew once I got on at Landstar, I'd never look back.

When I got my access to the load board, I was like a kid in a candy store.

I have both my trucks planned out for two weeks with great loads.

Landstar you can book yourself out to oblivion.

    Schneider I don't know.

Whatever you choose, let nothing stop you, or stand in your way, and you'll be ok.

I've got like 6 hours wrapped up in this one, getting it cleaned up and road worthy.

Sometimes you have to throw a dog off the end of a dock to get him to swim.
Go to Landstar IF you can qualify. Rates and lanes are easy. You probably already know more than you think you do. What's hard is building contacts and relationships. Otherwise your just another truck and everyone has a truck. That's not what you want to be right now.
Man, I appreciate you taking the time to post your experiences and sharing for the whole world to see, but it seems the only thing you have learned this far is the way around the mechanics shop.
Keep on with these baby steps and your truck will be trash before you learn anything. I mean this sincerely. I take you to be hard working, smart, and cautious. All great traits. Don't let your caution handicap you.

What would you say the percentage at Landstar is for trailers you hook to that are Compliant vs Need repairs?

    Farmerbob1 Thanks this.
