Well, I have made up my mind. After several months of study, reading, questioning, and yes, being a PITA at times, I have made the momentous decision to try to join Prime's driver corps.

Come December, I will begin contacting Prime's recruiters seriously in anticipation of joining the herd in SpringMo for training after I retire. There will be some federal retirement "things" that will have to happen and I am hopeful most of them will happen within a couple of weeks--I've had my retirement papers in for months, so I should have a leg up, but it is the federal government, so who knows.

And I even have a Plan B in case something doesn't work out with Prime. I will do the same with Swift or maybe pay $4,995 and enroll in CDL school. Then I will have a Michigan CDL and can try to get on with someone locally...there are companies that do not provide CDL training, think West Michigan CDL is a very good school, and get many of their new hires there.

I want to to this and am confident I will succeed.

Congrats on your choice. I sincerely believe you made the right decision for your new trucking career. Hopefully, we can all meet up someday.

UPDATE: I have decided NOT to pay for CDL school but to go with a company that has a training program, Prime Inc. being my first choice. On November 10, I will take the CDL permit tests here in Michigan and hopefully pass them all.
