The recruiter said that 30 otr then as openings come available you can apply for them. to me it dont matter much i just want to get back to work unemployment sure does suck. this is the first time ive ever drawn it & its been to long .
Well for the most part that is true. I am a mentor out of the Syracuse terminal. So far this year I've had one student go right from my truck to a dedicated account. Another go northeast reginal right off my truck, and a third one go otr. It all depends on if they have any openings and how well you do with your mentor.
Long shot i will be graduating from school in Dec. Have some ??? if thats OK How long does it normally take to get a mentor ? Also how long after the 240 hrs mentor time will it take to get a solo truck ? How do you like the Syr terminal. last 1 I live less than 50 miles from the terminal am i going to have to turn in the truck everytime i take home time for say 2 days ?? or will it be there waiting for me when i get off hometime my concern is that i get a truck just the way i like it then get slipseated out of it into a" problem child" truck.
My son trained out of Harrisberg then went right from his Mentors truck to dedicated Regional on the P@G account (NY,NJ,Pa,Conn.) He thought that he would end up on 48 states but they gave him exactly what he asked for.The runs are small 200-400 miles total both ways, but it pays 44cpm.empty or loaded. His home terminal is Avenel NJ and he gets to spend every reset at home. He's taking his hometime over thanksgiving and from what he was told gets to keep the same truck.
I've had students get trucks right away, and others wait due to them wanting to go home for a few days. Right now, there really isn't much of a wait time to get a mentor, unless you are a non-smoker. As far as home time and living do close to the terminal, that will be up to your DM and Bob.
I think I am the only one from that terminal. I like the terminal cus I get along with everyone there. They have helped me out alot and I have helped them as well. The main thing with any terminal is not to get on their bad side.
well i'm the easy goin type & normally get along with almost everyone just do my job & stay away from the other stuff. got any hints on getting prehired ? i graduate about the 23rd of Dec. oh by the are you OTR dedicated or regional. also how do they assign mentors? first come first served or what ?
A lot of the times the mentors gather in the back of the orientation room and try to pick out the cleanest looking recruits.
