I had it on a new pumpkin truck. You can disable it by covering it with tinfoil.
I then went around the foil with an old black t-shirt,so its not so obvious
when your going in and out of yards. You will lose cruise control, but the thing
was driving me crazy in daily Atl. traffic.
    The foil works great:yes2557:

I agree. If the thing worked right. Do you know what the fuse was marked or even the amps.

And having to lose your cruise control, esp when going otr would be a pain, might not need it in the loops around busy cities, but Wyoming and Nebraska, Colorado is a pain I would think just to have something that doesn't work right in the first place. Truckers are just guinea pigs with all these new gadgets.

if its a company truck the owner put it on there for a reason so if you dismantle it n your own without permission it could be grounds for dismissal

Three days ago, on 74, i went around a curve, the car in front of me took the exit, and slowed down In the exit lane. My onguard beeped, picking up the car, so i held my foot on the gas. The #### system still hit the brakes hard enough to lock the seatbelt and make me slide forward in the seat.
Don't believe the bs about the accelerator override. It'll still lock the brakes at it's own discretion

^^^ if that had been snowy/icy conditions on a curve you would have lost control.

The more I hear about OnGuard the more I'm glad to not be driving a truck equipped with it, and the more I'm determined never to drive for a company that has it installed.

It will eventually come to pass that all trucking companies of any size will have some type of adaptive cruise system installed. The insurance break they get is enormous.

We run VORAD in all of our trucks. I don't have experience with any other type of system. VORAD is not bad at all. I have not heard any of our drivers report any "ghost" braking of any kind. Unless you are one of those moron drivers that likes to tailgate, you hardly notice it is active.

If anyone were to tamper with the unit in any way, it is immediate termination. No excuses, no questions asked. I bet many companies have a similar policy so I would be sure to check before trying to deactivate it.

Snow and ice when I've had the bendix system hasn't happened. Bad conditions the snow will cake on the sensor then it doesn't read anything until it melts away. Like a normal truck. The on guard reads shadows and over passes. When the sensor is beeping also doesn't mean mash the accelerator it means back off. You continue then it jams it up. With my company at least no over ride. Unplug it and it cancels abs. Just sucks for cruise when the slight chance I feel like cruising but that's rare. And if you get in a accident where the system would've warned you how it's designed where god forbid a death happens, then lose job, maybe some fines or jail time or sued for negligence. I'm sure they'd get creative, you would if the situation happened to somebody you care about. I do understand the flaws, the brake jam on mine is 3/4 brake force. Hate it but rarely happens now in used to it.
