Heheh! No man, it's me - I put a destination "Lakeland" and the bus goes to Orlando first, so it keeps rerouting :)

I am :) I will save it. Not really nostalgic, but I get your point. To have somethimg to get back to and remember how you started.

Should be stopping in Orlando in the next few minutes.

Looks like you're in Lakeland already. What kind of hotel did they put you up in? How often did your recruiter say you'll be home since you live in Fort Lauderdale? Keep us updated on your experience.

    Alright fellas!

I have been in Lakeland since last night. They picked us 5 guys from the bus terminal and it was a 10-15 min drive to the LaQuinta Inn. We had to check in and were told some instructions by the front desk. The hotel itself is decent, no complaints - flat screen tv, fridge, microwave. Downside is they put you up with someone that you don't know, you can't be picky. If you wanted to be in your own room you had to pay $28/night and pay for at least 3 nights. Good thing I didn't do that cause today I saw a lot of people who are still waiting to get a trainer assigned, some of them have been here a week. @$28/night that money could quickly add up. My rommate is okay though, no worries there. I am having my lunch break now - sub sandwiches. Tomorrow they said there will be pizza for lunch. Breakfast at the hotel was very limited - toast, bagels, coffee, juice.

In the morning I woke up at 4:50, got down for breakfast and the shuttle drivers took us to the terminal - 17 people (one did not show up). Make sure you sign a sheet of paper before you head for the terminal each morning. If you don't sign it you don't get paid for this day. What else...

Today so far we did a bunch of paperwork, DOT physical and a drug test. My blood pressure was 110/75 even after 5 cups of coffee - tonakis the machine! :)

I guess today will be some videos in the afternoon. It is supposed to be a long day. Orientation started promptly at 7am. Someone said we will be here probably till about 6 pm.

I am preparing myself mentally to wait for the trainer, looks like everybody has been waiting. Some people are getting sent to Atlanta, I guess it will be quicker to get a trainer there. I will let you know what's up later on today!

To be honest, man, I don't believe anything the recruiter told me. But what he said was 2 days for two weeks on the road. The hotel you will read about in my previous post. He also mentioned that they "prefer" if I stay out for 3 weeks :)

    Tonakis,

I work for Werner and I was a student around October 25th to December 14th last year. I didn't get to come home because I lived in Tennessee, and my trainer had a Perdue chicken account in a Reefer/TCU Unit going between Strasburg, VA to Perry, GA. So don't be surprised if you don't get to come home, I guess it all depends on what your trainer's doing. Besides Werner told me they wanted me to finish my 275 hours behind the wheel without hometime, and if I did decide to come home I wouldn't get my $500 bonus for completing training. What they don't tell you is that the 500 dollars only comes after delivering your first load on time once you graduate training.

    tonakis Thanks this.
