You are correct, on experience, I am assuming. However it's a considerably safe assumption. At the last Heavy Haul & Rigging convention I attended it was stated that less than 5% of truck traffic exceeds the 150,000# or greater "super load" qualification. 95th percentile is a safe assumption in my opinion. I don't believe anyone who knows me even a little bit would disagree that my opinion is qualified.

You are incorrect that a mass in motion weighs more. Mass is mass. Mass in motion just "weighs" it's mass. Mass in motion "appears to weigh more" due to its kinetic energy.

Actually, my brake shoes, drums, 30/30 brake pots, slack adjusters, & S cams are not anything special. The shoes and drums R&R'd on my unit come off the same pallets as the "freight hauler" units beside me in the shop. Just brake jobbed the booster, and the car hauler beside me did the same...same parts.

I qualified my braking example with "elementary physics". Once again qualified opinion...studied mechanical & structural engineering...

I welcome discussion, I began by clarifying facts, politely requested reserving judgment until all the facts are available. I was told to back off by someone I surmised from their posts, easily done, was unaware of what they are pontificating on.

You have already demonstrated that you have a "last word" mentality, and I will make it easy for you. I will say no more. I am not here to engage in senseless arguments.

One would assume that since HH drivers are the "Best of Breed" as it were....That they would try understand the POV of an owner in regards to accountability and responsibility...

Not to mention I would say that most HH drivers as in "Superloads" don't own those big wagons since once you start getting to the point where you're running 80K empty.....The "Iron" cost more than the tractor tugging it....Out of reach for even the most successful small O/O to even justify the cost....So all of this anger direct towards asking for accountability is understandable since most company drivers haven't wore an owner's hat or, had to deal with the headaches that comes with wearing that hat....

Let's also consider the fact of the 4-Wheeling Public....Every time a low-life bottom-feeder tosses out a piss jug on the ribbon...The public assumes we all do it.....Now the public thinks we all hit bridges too....You can be sure that the thousands of 4-Wheelers who commute between SEATAC and Bellingham, will no doubt demand from their politicians more stringent regulations now......

Lastly...The height detection device I discussed was in the R&D stage when it was discussed on Lockeridge's show.....Perhaps if it does come into use....It will also be linked with your GPS....So that you'll know more than a mile out if you're too high to go through a tunnel or bridge that your load may damage....

THAT is a gross assumption not rooted in anything but a desire to Troll. Working Class ? No Class is more like it.

What ever became of this incident? Was there ever an official ruling on blame?
