Owner Operators what rate is fair

Thats really good man. Unfortunately, not everyone one can negotiate such a good rates.

You want me to provide the authority, the cargo insurance and to chase money (assuming I have to wait till you get paid), then it is realistic.

Sorry dude, when you talk about getting loads for people to cover what you can get and use their authority, it is not any more a leased situation where they get a buck and a half a mile, there are costs involved with that authority and that costs need to be covered. What do you think the average rate is being charged to a majority of customers? It ain't anything less than $3 a mile.

 

I had a solicitation call from J.B. Hiunt yesterday. They said that 1.5 was an average for o/os with their own authority, but power only.. They also promised 4200 or so of a gross per week. 1.5 all miles is rather a bottom rate that a new MC# such as I was getting to get my feet wet during slow winter time.
For me where I stand now, 2.00 a mile and 3000 all miles a week could be an attractive. proposition.

He does not want you to lease on. You go there with your own authority.

 

Natanishe, realistically, without sarcasm, there in CA you pay 2$ a mile and guarantee 2500 all paid miles a week... Loadboard dependent carriers will stand in long line to get your approval.

 

Wow that's bad I know companies drivers a mile and change around here just because nobody likes driving (400 for a round trip newark,nj-to york,pa)

 

I'm curious how you're expecting drivers to get 5000 miles in 7 days. If they manage to work that out, $1.50 won't cover the cost of fuel and speeding or HOS violation citations.

 

You cant be serious. At least $4-5 a mile.
