well folks. looks like the rumors were correct. freight in texas sucks. no chance of getting loaded today. no way to get there before noon. and we're looking at deadhead of over 100 miles. there are 3 loads for tomorrow. and 2 of them are very short hauls. and 3 day weekend. so i took load #3.
tomorrow i'll be in waco, tx. loading up for victoria, bc. (canada folks).
2315 miles. i'm running this weekend. HECK YEAH.
good thing i'm passport prepared. -
ok, if anyone can help out me here. i'm a little rusty with logs. but i'm going through the software and learning things. and straightening things out. but my question is. when changing duty status you put the miles between duty, correct???? i've been listing as the miles progress on the truck. i'm assuming miles between duty so that dot can see if you been speeding or not. and then total miles driven that day. correct??
update on my canada trip. i've stopped in boise city, ok. for my 10. but since i only have 16 hours of service left. i've decided to get my 34 in for a fresh 70 hours.Last edited: Sep 6, 2009

Snow,
Is this like fantasy league trucking?
Perhaps I missed it, but are you driving around in a company truck, but using L/O type figgures? Or are ya actually a L/O?
Doesnt matter which I guess, but the math seems skewed from the git go
Your own numbers are:
$650 truck rent per week (X52)
6 mpg
.85 cpm
So I run those at 125,000 miles/year, and come up with this:
$650 x 52 = $33,800
125,000 / 6 mpg = 20833 gallons x $2.65 per gal = $55,208
125,000 x .85 = $106,250
You gross $106,250 for the year, minus $33,800 (truck rent) then minus $55,208 (fuel) and you're left with $17,240 and you havent stuck a penny into any maintenence or other associated trucking overhead. 10 oil changes per year could add $2,000 alone unless you do them yourself at the cost of about $1,500/year
Who's paying the truck insurance in this game, and where's the FSC? Without the FSC factored in, this thread is Bush league.
Since we're fantasy trucking here, trade the columb-scadia and start the Peterbilt LOL!!
If you're actually running around the country for real with these numbers I wish ya the best, (though I doubt you actually are) -
thanks for clearing that up. it's nice to have an accountant checking my numbers.
and yes, when i checked the reports. it's actually about 229. instead of what i posted. and you corrected.
the software i'm using has the numbers for expenses and everything is updated so when i get done with load 4. everything should be more exact
everytime i run the software i find a way to do something different. or better. glad i'm learning it now and not later. i'm also using truckmiles.com websight instead of google now for my road atlas. miles are different between the two but not much.
really nice thing about this truckmiles thing is that it has a column for amount of time going along the route. makes it nice to plan where you might be after so many hours. and truckstop listings and fuel prices is also a nice addon. although i can't validate if the fuel price is actually current.
and yes, this is just a game. to get a basic feel. for me and any others considering. i said this is a O/O but i guess it should actually be more L/O.
quite honestly. nk i would be parking the truck before anything goes wrong. LOL. just off the weekly payment and fuel. this is a tough battle to profits. of course. that first fuel up of $560 to get things rolling didn't exactly help out.
O/O seems to have a different game going.Last edited: Sep 6, 2009

at the beginning of the post. i mentioned strictly fuel and payment. nothing else factored in. just a basic game for a basic feel. i don't have the numbers for everything so i can't make this an exact science.
seems like everyone is paying different for different things. and everyone is making different FSC. and no one knows what breakdowns will happen. we also don't have deadhead pay figured in. so the only real math i can provide that is for sure is the truck payment and fuel. i'm using an o/o board. o/o don't get deadhead pay. but l/o working for a company does get deadhead.
i'm doing the best i can for what tools i have.
at the end of this game. we'll have the end figure. then throw in SOME numbers that may or may not be included. depending on who you work for.Last edited: Sep 6, 2009

i'm working on a way to copy and past the reports on this thread if at all possible. so you all can see the actual reports and i dno't have to type in the numbers.
