I can get 6.5-6.7 out of my Western Star if, and that's the big word here, if, I keep my foot out of it..... and I'm not running against a strong head wind.

If I get on it I'm lucky to see 5.5, and if I'm on it in a headwind then, 4.3-4.5

I'm thinking about getting something aerodynamic.

My wife thinks I'm nuts, she likes the WS.

As long as I'm pulling rates like I have been I'll stick with the brick in the wind.... It's fun to drive and looks good....

If it is an aerodynamic truck how is the fact it is a peterbilt gonna result in bad fuel economy?

I have a 379. Ran coast to coast with a dry van for a while grossing about 76k and got 6.5 mpg.

My last company job, the 2010 T660 KW's with the 455 ISX Cummins could probably out pull any truck on the road grossing around 75 to 78K all while averaging 7.1 to 7.5 MPG.... 13 spd's with 3.55 rears

Going across 78 in PA I wouldn't have to spilt one gear until I got to that big hill in Allentown and only would have to drop into 12th

    i drove a 09 pete isx450. it got low 5's. now i drive an 09 t660. it's no better.

drove a 05 w9. also with isx. and got the same. drove a 95 t600. it had a d60 and got half a mile better. but still couldn't hit 6.

i'd sure like to know what motor can get 7 cuz it's defetnily not the detroit, cummins, or cat.

I have a 550 CAT. I think it pulls ok. I blow past these new trucks on hills like it's nothing. I just gotta make sure I don't run into the back end of one of those weak things. And I mean when I am 76k-80k. If there are some strong pulling new trucks I sure haven't seen one.

    Oh dear.
Sounds like the rookies on off road forums I frequent, who think their Jeep Wrangler on 33's can "go anywhere" our rig on 37's with full selectable lockers and armor can go. As I say to them, bring it on, and if your right dinner is on me. Funny, never lost that bet thus far....
