Are you ready for this garbage? you really can't make this stuff up.................

Sooooo I get to a customer for a drop and hook.
They tell me they don't want my trailer, it's not worth a drop and hook for a trailer with one pallet on it AND if I can off load it myself!
I'm like wtf? it's one pallet why don't you all do it, it'll take 30 seconds? "Oh we're backed up and it'll take an extremely long time but if you want to did it you'll be out of here quick".
So I ask how am I supposed to off load it? "We'll have somebody give you a pallet jack".
....... In my mind I'm wondering why doesn't that "somebody" use it themself!?!?! :angryfire:

So being this is a high service load that I already had to have a 3 way call on to pick up I wasn't gonna do anything without approval.
Sent in a message... of course no reply.
Called in.. of course on hold for 26 minutes before someone answers and basically customer service said NO I cannot offload it myself due to liability issues and now they're going to have to open up a case about this and told me to sit and wait till they get back to me.
All this for a 200 pound load on one pallet. When I just told the security guard all this he couldn't help himself from busting out laughing.

So basically a 110 mile load just took me the entire day, between this BS and rolling through tiny back roads in Delaware and PA with never ending traffic and lights.
The rates here are good but they ain't good when it takes you forever to do anything!

The fact you chose to make a huge deal out of that and lose money is kind of pathetic. Could have just unloaded it real quick and been in and out.

Oh so doing the right thing is pathetic? Mama would be proud!

This is an amazon load and Schneider gets up your behind about every single detail with them.
On my workflow it would show I'd kept the trailer and not did a drop and hook. Schneider would wonder WTF and will follow up with Amazon, I know.. it's happened before with a different situation.
Normally Schneider has their head up their rear end most often but not on these Amazon loads.
I might be silly online but I'm serious and try to do the right thing when it comes to work.

Even though I lost a load from delays and this crap will take away extra rest I had planned this will still be my second highest profitable week here in 7 months so whatever I don't mind.

That was just SNI being stupid. When SNI was stupid I tended to just do stuff myself, i.e. how I did trailer searches lol. I agree with the customer why drop a trailer for 1 pallet. Personally if they offered a pallet jack I would have unloaded the pallet and been done. I don't understand how liability would be an issue there, unless it was some trailer-height skid full of glass sculptures or something lol. To each his own, hope they get it figured out quick.

i was referencing the point you made that it would only take 30 seconds to unload. I'm sure Schneider would understand if it went from drop and hook to a live unload.

    Dinomite Thanks this.

Yes it would take ME or anybody 30 seconds to do it, the customer told me they're backed up and it would take them forever to get around to it.
Look an O/O running his own show is one thing but I'm leased to a carrier and if the carrier can't trust their ICs on high service loads they won't give em to them.
I might biotch about stupid things like this but I'm still doing very well overall and in that it's my intention to do the right thing even if I don't like it at the moment.
While I get screwed a little bit in the moment Schneider sees their ICs being considerate and trustworthy which could lead to better things for us all.
Some might not agree but hey that's my opinion.

the liability is SNI having to PAY for drive unload. You are expecte dto sweep the trailwers when dropping yes? wheres the liability there?

    That's it exactly.

Product could have been damaged while loading, you have no idea.

You touch that pallet, now it was damaged by you, regardless of when and where the damage took place.

That's how those things go. If they can pin it on you, they will.
