Define cheap. What's cheap for you may not be cheap for me. A cheap rate is a rate that I can't make a profit. My break even point is 85 cpm. So, at 86 cpm, I made a profit. No, not a lot of profit but a profit.

Hmmm I guess to define cheap would be far below average for a particular lane.
Like say OH to NJ for $1.50 is cheap but NJ to OH for $1.50 is good.

Well, I don't look at above avg., avg., or below avg. per lane. As long as any load is above 85 cpm I'm making a profit. And that's all that matters to me. The higher, the better, of course. In your example neither load is cheap to me. But, could very well be cheap to you, depending on your circumstances. Everyone's situation is different.

    Everybody views things differently.
However if we move loads for cheaper and cheaper it will hurt us all in the end.
I know if I went into O/O section and said OH-NJ for $1.50 isn't cheap I know I'd get blasted lol

You're right. I don't usually say anything about rates because I can run cheaper than most. It just comes down to knowing your numbers.

There's dudes at Swift running for $1.12 or whatever trash rate it's at now and they're still doing well according to themselves. Hey if someone is happy doing what they're doing that's all that matters.
Today booked my return flight to PA from Florida and I need to get home.
Got very lucky and am going from Harrisburg area to OH to TN for right at $2 all miles.
Wish it was always that easy.

    My last trip to Jacksonville............
Atlanta to Jax, 315 miles, $687.98
Jax to Beech Island, 252 miles, $300.76
Beech Island to Lugoff, 84 miles, $298.77
    Total....................
651 miles, $1287.51 or $1.97 on all miles

Sooooooooo........wasn't too cheap for me. I'm tellen' ya, I go to Florida all the time and get between $.85 and $1.00 coming out, BUT, I get my money going in. And that's the secret on almost any lane.

Of course. This job is about rate on all miles not just one particular load.

That being said its just a personal decision not to take a $1.00 load out of Florida. I don't want to encourage Schnieder to keep posting them.
