So far so good.
All depends on how i drive of course.
Biggest difference I've noticed vs my company shaker is in the mountains. I think the 13 speed might have something to do with that.
I've grown to love having a 13 speed, i can stay in the sweet spot more often and easier.

Figured I'd supply some fun trucker adventure stories being it's been a while... and that i got a 9 series tale right after commenting about them
Pulled into a DC for a drop and hook today.
Checked in and first thing the employee checking me in says "I have to apologize.... I only have the 9s left in trailers".
I laughed and asked him do drivers come in and specifically ask for any trailer besides the ones that begin with a 9? He said "all the time" and "i know why" and then apologized again.
Anyways so he assigns me a 94xxx trailer on one of those sheets that has the spot location and trailer number.
So I get to the trailer and the thing had multiple big dents along the side. One of the trailer doors wouldn't close all the way because it looked like the frame shifted. Also there was what appeared to be a water leak in the nose of the trailer. There was multiple small puddles in the trailer.
So said screw this and drove back to the check in building. Guard asked me whats going on and then beached me out saying i shouldnt have come back here, that theres a number to call on the sheet to report trailer issues.
I asked dont i have to get my sheet with the trailer info changed to give back when i exit? "No, just write in whatever they tell you yourself".
Soo i called and customer assigned me the very last empty on their yard, 9 series again but at least this one wasnt falling apart.
In other fun events of the day, i got behind a Prime truck on a rural state route. Dude was going 45-46 in a 55 the entire time. I was probably stuck behind the driver for about 30 minutes. About 10 minutes in a black pick up got behind me and was going crazy because he couldnt pass us. He was tailgating me and would poke along side to see if he can pass, a few times he flashed his brights at me while doing so. Dunno what he was intending with that.
Got to my next customer and in the remarks it said "driver parking available". So being it was kinda in the middle of nowhere i trip planned to take my 10 there. When i get there i see big signs at the entrance that says no overnight parking and again in the office -

Question for the experienced IC's here, what percentage of IC'S actually own their trucks free and clear vs have active leases?

Dude, always call the customer, never go by those stupid things.
SNI: Yes, they have overnight parking.
Customer: No, We don't have overnight parking, we've been telling Schneider that for years!Dominick253, Home_on_wheels, TennMan and 1 other person Thank this. -

However i rarely drive like that and i do a lot of heavy loads.
In midwest states and heavy loads going 65 I'm at 7.5-7.7. Winter time can be a little less.
If i go 70+ my mpg get killed, ive counted 6.3-6.6 just depending.
I usually go 65 and when i really wanna track my mpg i dont use the computer.
I track my miles since last fill up, then fill it up again and compare miles driven and gallons bought.
How I drive and how fast I drive plays a huge factor obviously.
In the beginning i focused more on being fuel efficient and paying attention to it.
Now it's not a priority for me.exracer941 and scythe08 Thank this. -
5 months in with my freighliner , I'm at 7.0 according to onboard. Prob running similar area and loads .
