I don't understand these loads that pay 60 cents. Don't you guys get 65% plus FSC? So is SNI booking these loads for 92 cents? Why would they do that? IC's aren't going to take them, therefore company trucks gotta cover. I just don't get why they'd book a load for those rates.

Because they've already taken 2 slices off the top, brokering it to them selfs....

It's all supply and demand.
Take Florida for example, they consume wayyyyy more than they produce.
Thus more trucks and less loads.
The shipper has the upper hand and can move it for cheap.
The goal is to get a high enough rate going in so it all averages out okay.scottlav46 Thanks this. -

No trucking company is going to sign a contract to haul freight for less than it cost to haul it.
A driver making 35 cpm, will also have matching payroll taxes, W/C insurance, at least partial company paid health and life insurance, vacation and holiday pay, ect. You are now at least 52-55 cpm just for a driver. You can't run a company truck for 40 cpm not counting the driver.
In my experience, bad areas pay a lot more than the rate boards show. And, double brokering your own freight to yourself is a bunch of crap. Who knows how much is scooped off the top. I know there is more off the top in areas where there is more trucks than freight. Seen it happen.
Was leased to a company many years ago that the freight paid great. I could drive over 500 miles to NJ and deadhead home, and still make a lot of money. They started a brokerage and brokered to themselves, cut the rate almost in half.
Companies know if an o/o or l/o is making too much money, they will stay home more.
