I went into a Pilot at 5am for Coffee and they were disassembled for cleaning... at 5am! The lady was just putting them back together and one had started brewing. I grabbed a cup from it and the lady shrieked at me "it's not ready yet!"...
I don't have time for that garbage. last time I got coffee from any truck stop, it's always screwed up somehow.driverdriver Thanks this. -
Just put a cup under the drip.

I stop at PFJ's 90% of the time for 10 breaks. I typically get going between 3 and 6 AM local time and I can tell you, this type of experience is rare. Yes, sometimes only one carafe is anywhere near full (assumed fresh) but on balance, most of their locations keep their coffee counter in fairly good shape all day long. But this brings up a point about the good thing about the bean-to-brew setups. You don't worry about them being empty or old or not hot, or any of that type issue.Oldironfan Thanks this.

Thats what I did, the first cup is always the best.

Then the lady started shrieking at me like I dropped my pants right there to take a dump or something.
I told her I don't have 10 minuets to sit and wait, and left.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Got me a fresh ground cup at the J in Tehachapi today.
It's stronger than usual, but quite good.
Getsinyourblood and Oldironfan Thank this. -
