If my company ever tells me what route to take to get where I'm going, or what specific station to fill how much that'll be the micromanagement. They may suggest a route in the local area due to experience, but it's no demand.
Please Define "Micromanage" in trucking.

I would also point out that following the rules to avoid the violations would only cost you some seconds to maybe a few minutes of time in a driving day.
People stress way too much over a few seconds or minutes lost in a day. If you can not plan your time to account for those tiny delays then you are not planning very well.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Actually, I use my RM GPS to figure out the route.
Swift no longer sends an actual route, only fuel stops.
If there is not an assigned fuel stop on the best route I can find, I call in when I am ready to fuel and tell them that the fuel stop was not actually on my route.
Sometimes I will use my RM to route me to the fuel stop and then figure out how far it is to my destination. Sometimes it is basically the same in distance and time so I will use it, and if not I will go the better route.
All this fuss about assigned fuel stops, when it really isn't that bad. -
I hate to be that boss but I tell my guys where to fuel.
To be fair I save $1.10 / gallon so am I in the wrong for wanting to save that ?D.Tibbitt and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
It would be annoying to have to call in to get a new fuel stop. We have assigned stops, but we can always request a new one from the tablet if on a different route or want to skip it for some reason.

Whats the average time it takes to get thru a pilot or loves these days? (I am assuming these huge companies are sending you here for fuel - correct me if I am wrong).

Most of the time it isn't too bad.
And since I prefer Love's showers I usually fuel there.
If the line is too long and I have enough fuel to make it farther, I'll head up the road and call in for another fuel stop. -
I only have waits if I stop at 7-8 am, lunch time, or around 5-6 pm. Lunch time is the worst because drivers are too lazy to park while ordering fast food inside.

Did you say 'fast' food? Those places are taking longer and longer these days.
2 or 3 people manning the entire place.
