If I wanted to be in one of those moods I say the post ELD trucks are really safe in snow indeed.

detected 3 inches of snow. Begin spin wheels program, ensure driver goes no where. //tease.

Wow Steve, you're a real Canuck, my brother!
It was like I was reading my own thoughts!

I watched the video a couple times and agree with everything you said.
There's a chance the camera isn't showing the true human visual perspective which depends on the aperture and focal length settings of the camera, which may make things seem further or closer than they actually are.

I've been the guy in the video many times while south of the border, and once or twice north of the border as well.
The winter of 1977 I shut down near Kansas City for a sleep during a heavy snowfall and the next morning after rush hour I jumped on I-70 and headed for St Louis where I was to unload and re load at the same place.
The snow was 4 or 5 inches deep, but the road had heat in it, the air temp was above freezing, the sun was shining and there was no ice under the slushy snow.
So....., traffic is moving along in single file between 30 and 35 mph and I'm out in the virgin snow in the passing lane doing 50 mph and feeling pretty safe about it, when I hear people on the CB talking about this maniac driver in a yellow and green KW pulling a flat deck with yellow tarps and thought it sounded a lot like my truck!

    My comeback.
"This is nothing, where I come from one snowflake would cover half your windshield."

Then the threats started, "If we ever get hold of you blah blah blah......... etc", as if they might catch a Canadian trucker from the prairies on a snow covered road in Missouri!

Then I came to a valley and saw trucks chaining up at the top on the west side and just before I started down the hill they heard me pick up a gear and put my foot into it, then watched me go down the hill and up the other side without a twitch, which I think inspired them to forget about the chains and proceed.
After re loading it had started snowing heavily so to avoid rush hour on the interstate I drove casually through east St Louis, (real nice place), and around the congestion, then drove a little ways up I-55 to a small truck stop and parked again for the night, hoping none of those people I ticked off might be there and recognize my truck.

    Doesn't that look familiar!
Around here we have'n seen pavement since sometime last year.
Just snow pack and ice, although it got warm enough for a day or two where the salt was active and turned the white streets to brown snow pack and ice.

You need to come a bit east. I've been working in ND the last few months. The mini-megas from Manitoba are 90% mush heads. Or is that turnpike taliban... or BOTH?!?

Don't think it's only you Canadians who hear that. A bunch of the "I'm the best driver ever" never willingly drive on snow, and if you're going faster than they are then you get the "I'll see you in the ditch!" Back before ABS, I used to grab a handful of johnny bar after I was well clear just to swing the trailer out. They were never amused. But their pride would never let them admit that some of us spend enough time on snow that it's not nearly as big of deal as they pretend it is.

Driver likes to hug that white line, personally I would have slowed down and hugged the yellow line. Conditions like that, hugging that white line is going to scare a lot of 4 wheelers and might make them do something stupid, not to mention the snow he's kicking up is going to be more blinding. Could have slowed by 5 mph, still been passing everyone, and created a safer situation.

I was going to comment on lane position but it's not that easy to say, depending where his cam is mounted. I think he was just staying in the tracks of the other vehicles, which never quite match the lane markings.

If he's further right than I think he'll be kicking up a bit of snow but looking at what the 4 wheelers are kicking up it won't be a blinding cloud. Probably more noise than anything else.

Seeing down 5 mph isn't going to reduce the snow cloud by that much, and then it's hanging there in front of and beside them even longer.

He is not in his lane. Neither were the other cars. But eh...

I remember many snow days I could care less what lane I was in I use the whole interstate sometimes. That is where those markers posts with the dots come into play.
