    Many drivers have mood disorders.
Seems to be a requirement for trainers to have mood disorders.
Support at companies seem to all have mood disorders.
Mention something wrong with your truck to a company mechanic. You’ll see definite mood disorder. :laughing-guffaw:
You might fit right in! :laughing3:

I don't understand why people keep saying you can't sleep 8 hours. I get that basically every night. We run Electric Log Books so you can't cheat. We have to log 10 hours off.

Pulling a dry van usually means driving in the day and stopping at night for your 10 hour break. Pulling a refer can mean more odd unloading time. Didn't sign up for short refer runs company like K&B because they have all crazy working hours. Driving cross country give you more time keep a regular sleep schedule. You can load in Seattle WA and then have 5 day of just driving to say Pennsylvania. So you on you own for 5 days.

I have a sleep machine, cpap I have to use it minimum of 4 hours a night to consider compliant. When driver start talking about sleep problem. The D.O.T doctor think sleep apnea. It kinda the new thing in trucking last couple years

Listening to LINK! Normally I am listening to classical music as a bit of soothing before bed. Last night I did not need soothing!

Nobody is disputing the OP can't get 8 hours of sleep. That was not the basis of my point. Go back and re-read the OPs comment. The OP is saying they will need 8 hours of continuous sleep every NIGHT. Going into company paid CDL training in almost every situation this is not going to happen. I have pulled dry van and reefer both. The average time with a load is around 2 days. In that training environment and that year after there is no such thing as 9 to 5 trucking.

    Thanks for your reply.

Just to let you know, just because I have a mood disorder doesn't mean I'm raging all of the time while driving. I'm very even-tempered when I'm driving, and in general, and handle stressful situations very well.

That is a valid concern about my meds. I'll have to make sure that I'm stocked up. When and if I start driving, I need to talk with my doctor about this.

    Hi,

Yes, it's looking like company CDL training is not the way to go for me.

I found a Roadmaster school near me that offers placement with a company that will reimburse you for the CDL classes, and that will train you. I'm going to call them up and talk with them about that.

Keep us in the loop. I would be most interested in seeing how this turns out. I wish you all the best and hope you find your place in this industry. If I can be of any help just let me know!

    Thank you so much!

Before I do anything, I'm going to get my medical clearance letter and pay for my own DOT physical. We'll see if I pass or not. I'll make sure and update this thread afterwards.
