I try to do that as much as possible. I ask for $150 for one piece, $300 for two. Most of the time I get it. I've had several agents tell me they usually don't have guys ask for more money. I guess most take the $100 they offer up front.

Messy load of lumber. Nice tarp job though. I'm curious because l dont haul big loads of lumber much. Could the scales have given you a hard time about not having straps over the bottom layer? I see some guys fully strap each layer. I probably would have thrown one over the middle of each lower bundle but whats the actual law? Or is it a grey area good for getting tickets and nothing else lol thanks.

Going from memory 2 lifts high doesn't require belly straps. Once it gets to 3 lifts you need to have one layer with bellys.
Lumber does have its own specific rules in the green bible, I haven't hauled a load of lumber in a long time now. Usually they are only two lifts high though. It wouldn't have hurt to throw bellys but I probably wouldn't have either.

As @DDlighttruck said, no. Not required. It is above 6 ft tall but is not more than 2 high. I didn't make the forklift operators go out of their way to let me throw any since they were putting them on two at a time.

Sometimes I might belly just the front of each trailer or even each one, but it's discretionary when it's not required.
