I was told he was accelerating to get onto a road and lost it on a curve. This is third hand info so I cannot say for sure what happened.

 

Wow. Thats what nightmares are made of. To be honest I never wear a seat belt. Touchy subject I know. But it's just because of something like this. Id rather not be restrained.
Used to haul concrete block with a day cab. Had a bulkhead on front of the trailer and nothing behind the cab. Always center loaded so you would have 10 - 15' of open deck on the front. We got a new "Safety" lady one day. She caught me driving in without a belt and raised holey ****. I told both her, our company manager and boss that I would quite before I wore it in that particular truck. Why they asked me? I said in case I jackknife the thing to the drivers side, that loaded trailer will push that rail through the corner of that day cab like a knife through butter. And I won't strap myself in the corner. Everybody but the "Safety" lady saw the logic there.
That thing was an absolutely wicked rig in the winter. A light short day cab with a 45' spread flat and a Moffitt forklift hanging on the back. The Moffitt was a bit heavier than what you normally see for carrying 4,000# + cubes around.
It balanced the trailer so much hanging off the back that you had to be careful unhooking the trailer. If the rear axle was in a hole it would lift up a couple feet then you unhooked. Going empty down the road every little bump the trailer jumped off the 5 th wheel plate.
Imagine loading 5-6,000# on the very rear of a 53' California spec trailer (Axles way the *** forward)
And running in the snow country. You would be insane to load that way but I was expected to run empty like that every day regardless of the weather.

 

When I plowed, Our boss explained that it was the law that we where out seat belts and that our insurance required that we use them and that if anything ever happened that he would cut the belt, and vouch that we had it on!!!
And then followed it with he'll never where his and that we should be able to decide for our selves if we want out of that cab or on the floor as the truck goes over the bank!!!
And If there's time flip the key on your way out....
In that job we ran iron almost all winter,, and I have been involved it uprighting trucks,, let em sit for abit, pull the dipstick, fire it up and continue on...

Good morning, Fellas. I just had to share this with our friends on here.
This is a high school senior welding an exhaust on his truck, and showing a high school freshman how to do it.

It felt so good to watch them together. They're not even my sons, they just used my shop and welder.

Kids like this are welcome around my farm any time.

 

Youngins like that are getting mighty hard to come by these days for sure. Good to see theres still some around here and there at least. Thanks for posting that.
