I have seen some oversized loads posted that pay well but they're few and far between. Most seem to be 53' van, $200, you load out.

Power-Only is what "independent contractors" really are. Not this lease crap under a carrier's authority. I ran the numbers, and if you already own a truck but can't get a trailer it wouldn't be a bad deal. But, you're at their mercy (once you get your authority, be prepared for phone calls from these companies soliciting power-only O/Os).

I ran the numbers, and getting a trailer is much more beneficial than going with them. If you're taking the leap to O/O, might as well go all the way.

Just curious what kind of loads you generally haul marmonman? Are you moving new trailers to dealers or doing specialty trailers?

I move new and used trailers of any kind other than soda wagons . I have not hauled any freight other than empty trailers since "95". I have delivered to dealers trucking companies and O/O.

    Marmon,

Do you find it better to haul the load out trailers, and then find another load to haul using that trailer, or do you stick to the no load out trailers?
