If they had a valid contract that you signed they would have contacted you a long time ago they probably lost the original paperwork and are hoping by setting some bait that you'll nibble and then they can get money out of you, also is that all the paperwork that they sent to you? Because the Fair Credit Reporting Act says that they have to list the laws for the state that you reside in and to the collection practices

Furthermore, it sounds like you were out with a personal trainer he's just another truck driver with a CDL and not a licensed trainer from a accredited truck driving School, and therefore what you received was on the job training and they have no recourse, on the other hand if they sent you to a truck driving school and paid for it and you signed the paperwork then they probably will be able to collect

If I were you I would not respond in writing, or even by telephone, where you could and probably will be recorded. Instead I would send them a bill for $4000.00 for their failure to create and instill a safe confidence in being away from your home. I mean, honestly, did you really feel safe and confident in their training program. It doesn't sound to me like you got $3,800 worth of value or otherwise you would have kept on working it wasn't enough to keep you away from your home, I wasn't there but in my opinion they didn't do their job because they didn't feel they gave you $3,800 for the value else why did they wait 5 years

Let's see here, you got your CDL training and left the company with what appears to be an outstanding bill. So up to this point it had been a freebie to you. Now it appears that you might be in a bit of a jam, so you come here to TTR to get contract advice......for free.
Are you seeing where you might be going wrong at this point? You have a job, pay some money to a real lawyer (maybe one that specializes in contract law) and get advice what to do next.

    Jusstardust Thanks this.
