    There is no deal.

However, a few months ago, they did ask drivers if they would be interested in paying $39.95 per month for internet service if they were given a free laptop. And like I said, I haven't heard anything more about it. Either they are still working on it or they didn't get enough interest.

Is this still an option? That's cheaper than any other option we have..

You can write your internet service off on your taxes.

It's a business tool... for both company and lease operators alike. Necessary weather information BEFORE you commit to the road, internet mapping services so you KNOW what you are getting yourself and your truck into before you get stuck, for the lease operator - fuel pricing information, internet transflow service for sending trip reports, email receipt of new permits, etc.

Especially in the winter, its critical to know what the weather is going to do to you. Get an air card or use your smart phone for a connection. Its only $50 per month from Verizon.

    DenaliDad Thanks this.

    .

Yeah, I know we can write it off, but 1. he has a dumb phone (aka NOT smart), 2. without going into a whole bunch of stuff (the brown stuff) we are just starting to get back on our feet after a pretty nasty couple of years. And then: the washer explodes, the water pipe gets broken off the house, letting loose a full month's worth of water down into the goat pen, the house gets whacked out of level by the goats, the phone line gets bit in half....If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all. :biggrin_25513:

Or for those of us in farther northern climes, the fun of coming home to an indoor skating rink or indoor swimming pool that wasn't there when we left...

I think some of the newer quacomms you can surf the internet on. Though I wouldn't recommend it.

I just use Verizon's MIFI service and I've been very happy.
