yeah, but ya know fozzy, not a whole lots has changed i guess, the sad part is,alot of the same bottles thats been out here since the 60 and 70 are still out here! ofcourse they have ahopfully all been totally redone with new kingpin knaps, and new axles and suspensions. as long as they pass the 5 year magna flux and pressure inspectiosns and yearly inspections, they are worth a 1000 per year, example a 1975 bottle is still worth 75 grand if fixed. although newones are in the 150 to 170k range........
hey fozzy, when you unloaded back in the day, i assume you used a jack shaft off the back of your truck correct?
Propane Tanks IF you have pulled one, Ups, Downs r just good Advice? Thanks

Just curious Snowman how would one check the magna flux inspection? I know some of the trailers are new and some are older they appear to be well kept but I am thinking that if there is an inspection done on them that somewhere somehow DOT knows this too and I would not want to get caught with my pants down
-
there is a five year inspection date on the side of the trailer. it should say P I and then the date it was done, below or above that date will be another date, the yearly, that says V K and then the datge it was done. also, any of the racks you load at will have the information in there system if that trailer has loaded there before, if not, then it must be registerd. if your trailer is outtta date, the rack will tell you 30 days in advance that its gonna expire soon. once it expires, that trailer will be locked out until it has been inspected.
your company probley has its own people to inspect it, other wise if they dont, they have to have it sent off and done. your company has to have all records of the inspections on file.DocHoliday Thanks this. -

If you go into a gas plant to load or unload ,they hook and unhook because lots of them use steam to unload you. Propane is in a unbaffled bottle, don't forget it "EVER" as it will push you through a intersection on snow! Rough riding trailers too. Do not stand in front of any popoff valve as it will popoff if you do. If you have to odorize a load be sure and wear all the protection as Mercaptin is the stingkingest stuff in the world. 1 qt/9000 gal load poured down the loading hose. Real fun.

Well I just got confirmation I have gotten the Job, Terminal Manager calls and ask me what Size Pants I wear and shirt, so I ask " why do you have uniforms?" he says hell no but you have to wear FRC clothing, I asked wtf is FRC he explained it to me laughing his ##### off. I guess they provide some coveralls both insulated and non, he said the company will pay for 2 sets per year and if I desire to buy pants and shirts they will kick in 500.00 for them also. He also asked if i had steel toes, and said the company gives 150 a year for them too...
Hard hat, shield and gloves they pay for also this all sounds great so far, hell they even pay for my health, and it only cost like 50 a pay period to put the wife on.
So that all has me thinking alot either there are not enough drivers who are willing to do this, due to all the risk etc or I have finally found a company that still has a conscious. -
Companies all say that! Companies will WANT you to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) and is not hard.. the hardst part is from the DRIVERS side where they cannot understand that its a RULE and a REQUIREMENT.. we have driver who get busted on almost a weekly basis by shippers or recievers for not wearing their PPE.. this stuff will potentially save your life! Listen during the orientation to what they expect, and listen and COMPARE it to whomever trains you and what they do and say and that will show you whether or not the company has much control or respect from their drivers.. if the bulldog has rubber teeth.. no one is afraid of it..
Learn and ask and try and continue learning.. it will keep you alive.. I made one mistake while hauling this stuff and got a pressure / vapor burn even with my nomex coveralls on.. a second of getting out of sync can get ya hurt bad.. I just got and ugly bruse and some chicken skin on on my arm... it went away,, but it was mistake that was avoidable. I opened a wrong valve (when switching vapor lines from the trailer to to truck tank and the cap that was on the line (and my arm was near) blew off and hit me with a LOT of pressure.. the nomex saved be from getting frozen or burned (basically the same thing)...
Good luck out there driver and contrats on the new job...DocHoliday Thanks this.
